Re: Is having a cellphone a top priority for you?

Yes. I drive. If I were in an auto accident I can call for help and if necessary also use the camera to take photos of the damage. You would be amazed how much photos aid a claim case when you're involved in a fender bender. I also have dogs and I always carry my phone, just in case. I also download apps that help with a multitude of tasks. Think of a cellphone as a Swiss army knife. It doesn't do one thing. It's a multipurpose tool.

Yes. We don't have a landline. I use it for both jobs, including checking email, and personal use.

EXACTLY!!!

My cellphone is my alarm clock, med reminder for myself and my pets, food diary, appointment and address book, electronic coupon source, camera and means to be available to my children and grandchildren in case of emergencies. I haven't had a land line for years and cellphone service anymore is about the same price as a land line and the cellphone provides so much more.

Re: Is having a cellphone a top priority for you?

And honestly (OP, I'm not saying you are doing the following, but I see it a lot), it gets tiresome to hear people gripe about people using their phones all of the time. If I'm waiting for 20 minutes at the Drs office, why should I NOT use my phone to pay bills or send emails to clients. Some say, "read a book, instead!" Maybe I am! I have a kindle app on my phone and always have books loaded onto it for situations like that. It's not like everyone that has a cell phone is making loud, inappropriate personal calls in the waiting room, or holding up the line at a grocery store, or taking selfies everywhere. When I'm with a friend for coffee or dinner, my phone is in my purse, and I don't check it unless i am expecting an important call, or right before I leave, to make sure I don't need to do something on the way home. I'll step off my soapbox now......Smiley Wink

A smartphone is a small computer. I'm on it all the time when I'm waiting for something, probably logged into online class studying. So yes, I have my nose in my phone a lot. I'm studying!

I've had a cell phone since they were those big ol' bricks that weighed several pounds. It's a good idea if you are a woman driving around alone at night.

Re: Is having a cellphone a top priority for you?

I have an iPhone and certainly appreciate the convenience, but I hate the way they've permeated our society. I can't be in any waiting room without having to listen to someone's conversation. Even when I use the rest room, people are yakking on their phones. Makes me want to flush a few extra times!

It is handy to have in an emergency, but mine isn't even on when I'm home or at work. Two of my friends don't have a cell and want nothing to do with them. I think they're tired of being hit over the head with them everywhere they go. Everyone's situation is different.
