yes, and they used to paint strep throats with Gentian Violet before antibiotics, too- But guess what? even though antibiotics have side effects, they are BETTER!

Quackwatch explains all.....
everyone can believe what they want to I guess. That is the internet for you. All I know silver has been a blessing to me over the past 20 years.... pharmaceutical companies have pretty much put anything that is free to use and purchase for personal use such as silver off the map marking it as dangerous.... and replaced it with "drugs" that many times themselves do not work, drugs that may work.... and also many times cause illness, side effects and death. The FDA is no great God of goodness... lots of under the table "deals" with pharm companies goes on all the time to approve drugs.... that get on the market that should not.
People need to do their homework no matter if they use a natural method of healing OR a drug.

R&R: Sorry but brown recluse spider bites are quite serious. I'm sure the salesperson was using that to sell, but please do not ever buy into any schtick that says "oh, it cured this or helped with that"- I'm all for natural medicines but they don't always play nice with other scripts or even otc meds.

I just read your link and the company is trying to sell you something.....and lied about the FDA.
From WebMD....
Colloidal silver is a mineral. Despite promoters’ claims, silver has no known function in the body and is not an essential mineral supplement. Colloidal silver products were once available as over-the-counter products, but in 1997, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ruled that colloidal silver drug products were not considered safe or effective. Colloidal silver products marketed for medical purposes or promoted for unproven uses are now considered “misbranded” under the law.

Um Gazelle didn't you work in a health food store for many years?

R & R............you continually post here seeking medical advice. Even when asking about someone's use of the product, you will get different answers. This is NOT the place to get answers to your questions nor is the health food lady who is friends with the elders of your church or some similar relationship. Anyone will tell you anything just to make a sale. Much like the traveling medicine shows of the bygone era where shysters were selling cure-all elixirs for whatever ails you.
Most websites (I didin't say all) will post anything they want. If you must resort to a website for info, use those such as the Mayo Clinic website to get your credible information. Not some fly-by-night website with no verifiable credentials.
But here's a thought, why not ask your physician who knows your history? If you have money to waste on anything, then go ahead. But with your medical history, I certainly would be more cautious about what I put in my body.

SHORELADY, what you have said (and so true) has been told to R&R by many posters in the past and she pays no attention.
‎04-03-2014 01:52 PM
Well, R & R, I guess you are going to have to tell US how it works, since it sounds like none of us want to try it-
and if you have worries about its safety, ask yourself this' "Would I put it in my baby granddaughters bottle"?

Regardless of what YOU personally think..and what you would take. I find it totally irresponsible to be advising somebody you do not know..do not know what the "incurable" disease is.and tell them it is okay to take this?
There are warnings all over and it is always best to err on the side of caution on stuff like this more so when it is not somebody you know..when you do not know their medical condition all of the medications and other OTC vitamins etc they are taking.
Considering the complex nature of this person with her various medication issues, medical issues, incurable unknown disease she needs to check with her own licensed medical doctor WHO KNOW HER before advising of any such thing.

Well, I believe Newport sold this stuff, vitamins and health store junk, for a living before she retired. If I remember correctly, that is...
That would explain her encouraging R&R to use it. She sold this kind of stuff or years. I wonder if the sales people in these kind of stores make a commission.
