We should also do something about the murder rate using guns, and about gun control.
Your assertion that the U.S. ranked 169 and therefore should remain silent while we cleaned up our own act was based on a misinterpretation of the chart you were reading.
You specifically said, "check out the data." So, I did.

Good night, found. You win, if that is what you are after.
Meanwhile, we have an unconscionable death rate for newborns way below most developed countries. But hey, who cares? Not you.

I guess I care more about infant mortallity than you do.

ITA. Our government cut funding for food for the poor, has tried to repeal a law to provide health care to the sick and poor (50 times?) and kicks high risk children out of Head Start. All the while providing billions in perks to big business. What's our excuse?
This is shameful. But too many in Congress lost the empathy instinct long ago, to keep being elected and be more shameful.

What a shame you're spreading misinformation particularly as many don't bother to read the entire thread.

I've put up infant mortality rates before, ours is not good. We rank lower than quite a few other developed countries and there's no excuse for that.
Our maternal mortality rate is also not good, and for sure we're not doing ourselves any favors by supporting financial cuts to PP which is, in many cases, the only medical care and advice available for poor women in rural areas.

I think that is the point.
Plus many other countries make no attempt to resuscitate babies under 500 grams and these are classified as fetal deaths and not included in the live births or infant mortality statistics. When attempts are made to resuscitate they are classified as live births, although most will subsequently die they are included into the infant mortality statistics.

The infant mortality rate is calculated by dividing the number of infants who die within one year of birth by the number of infants who are born. The infant mortality rate is usually expressed as the ratio of infant deaths per one thousand live births.
