We went to a wedding shower for a friend's daughter last week. It was held at a nice restaurant. Nice hot hors d'oeuvres were served and champagne. Everyone told a short, funny story about the bride-to-be and there was a magician, which took a lot of time. The gifts were not opened. The bride-to-be took them home to open. This was new to me.
I guess this is the way it is done these days. IDK...haven't been to many wedding showers in the last 10 years. Now, all the older ladies' tongues are clattering about how the bride should have opened the gifts so they could see the expression on her face. My mother got a call from a friend of hers this morning. She was all upset because she had done some beautiful needlework of some sort for the bride, and it wasn't shown or passed around.
