If you live in the mid-Atlantic area you might be familiar with this wonderful place.
I went to the original one in Newark, Delaware years ago, when they walked around with baskets of homemade breads and had a soup sampler (3 minis) on their menu.
I still would drive to one specifically for their home brewed root beer! Most locations have a glass window where you can watch them brew the beer.
So I've been going there a long time. There have been changes throughout the years, but they have always helped the local communities.
Yesterday they closed all locations abruptly. The three original founders stayed involved, but sold interest in the restaurant some years ago.
I am praying for their employees, who didn't know anything until early yesterday morning.
I read bankruptcy is involved, and they are hoping to regroup and reopen in the future.
I have heard that before, and it usually doesn't happen. We'll see.
Does anyone else want to share memories? ![]()

@beach-mom I never heard of this place but it sounds great. I wish I could have visited it.
Sadly, I'm afraid we'll see many more great restaurants go under. As prices increase, people economizing are going to eat out less and less. Restaurant meals have already become shockingly expensive.

We went to the one in Wilmingrton Del, 2 years ago, it was pretty good.

we used to go to the one in rehoboth beach.
it was a good "bar food" place. i feel bad for all of those who are losing their jobs. we do have much better restaurants though in the area.

I have dined at Iron Hill quite often over many, many years. I especially liked their "Naked Burger," prepared on a delicious salad.
The restaurant was always lively, full of people chatting, and a real haven for beer drinkers.
We just ordered dinner to take home about a month ago! I did not know it would be our last one forever....
So sad!

I used to live quite close to the one in Newark, the original. In fact I lived in the area the brewery was named for. When my children were young, we would go there every Sunday for dinner as my oldest loved their prime rib special. They made a lot of changes over the years as they grew and I feel the overall quality of the food went downhill. I also think they expanded too much and couldn't maintain the growth.

I lived in Lewes DE for over 10 years. Iron Hill brewery was. a great place to go to. It is a shame they had to close it but since the new owners took over it wasnt the same vibe. Also so many other restaurants have closed. I know Chaps, and several others have closed as well. And in the news recently they announced that Starbucks in Rehoboth is closing. I was surprised given the amount of people that moved into the area that places are closing. I hope my favs like Big Fish, Big Oyster Brewery and Crust & Craft are doing well.

We had one in my local shopping center. They had a nice outdoor area. However the few times that I ate there I wasn't impressed with the food so I didn't go back and it's been a few years. They were only open near me for 4 years.
They suddenly closed with no warning to even their employees!

@Kachina624 It's crazy but most of the restaurants near me (even the more expensive ones) are still packed most of the time!
I think many people really look foward going out to eat after being under lockdown for a few years even though it's been some time now since Covid.
