Recently, the potus announced a concerted effort, along with funding to map the brain. So important, especially with the numbers of soldiers coming home with brain injury. The more we know the better we do. Hopefully certain diseases that plague us today will be eradicated in our lifetime.

I have a friend and a family member with epilepsy. The ability to turn off certain ""switches"" in the brain is great progress!

I have said before my dd has a rare form of epilepsy. WE were very very fortunate to have excellent local neurologist. She has had many treatments including Ketogenic Diet and VNS. The VNS was a bit of a disaster for her but the Ketogenic Diet was miraculous in that it stopped all her drop attacks. She still is on some medication but her life is good all in all.

Thank goodness for Johns-Hopkins, Dr. Freeman, Millicent Kelly, and the Charlie Foundation for that (Johns-Hopkins was also home of the ground breaking surgeon Dr. Ben Carson).

Anyway this light beam research looks very promising. I hope it proves successful in the future. Don't know if that would help my girl but one never knows.
