👉🏿 Insure your identity 👌🏾

From the AARP March Bulleton...

 “You can insure your identity.”
  • Did you know you can insure your identity? It’s available as a rider on many homeowner policies for as little as $25 a year. If your identity is stolen, the insurer will work with police and credit bureaus to restore your good name, and reimburse costs related to repairing your credit.

Other tidbits can be found by clicking on the "What Experts Know That You Don't" link.

Any lawyer will pick apart the "guarantee to restore your good name".

Put a freeze across all 3 credit reports. "Opt Out of cc marketing offers. And put an alert on your cc's. Mine are set to "alert me when my card is charged for $1 and no card was swiped.

Easy peasy.

@Snowpuppy - that's exactly what we have done.

Just the other day I had it out with Capital One - apparently opting out doesn't apply to them and they keep sending offers.

Insuring your identity can only help after the fact. The only way to deal with protecting your identity before it’s stolen is to freeze your credit!! That’s the only way to avoid the stress!!

even THAT is not 100% foolproof.

Opting Out keeps the snoops out of your credit reports and stops those pre-approved offers in the mail which can be stolen.

If you are already a Cap One card holder, they can continue to mail/call you as an existing customer. You can look at account preferences and see if you can limit how they market to you.

@Snowpuppy - we don't do business with them, never have unless they have some connection to something else.

Next on my list is AARP - even bigger pita's!
