When our car was hit and damaged by the driver of another car our insurance paid us for the repair.  That is also no fault in our state.

Insurance is a racket. They can drop you, raise rates, etc., in the blink

of an eye. I have never and will never let anyone drive my car!

@Group 5 minus 1 did you have collision coverage on your car?  That's the only way you're getting paid by your insurance company for damages to your car.

@Group 5 minus 1  They paid you because you have Collision coverage. When your insurance company pays you for damage to your car,it's first party coverage. In Michigan No Fault refers to your injuries & damage you do to other peoples property not your car.You must have separate Collision coverage for that. They will also represent you if you are sued.

Whole side.  Stone wall.  I reported the accident.  But  I did get their permission for him to drive the car for one month.  I understand they had to pay. I understand it was his fault.

What I did not expect was he was banned for life for every driving my car. I didn't expect the umbrella policy to be involved.

And I didn't expect the fact there was no one to talk too.  Insurance company changed hands so many times. Now that it is settled I am going to look for another  insurance company that has  1.  Local offices   2.  Easy way to reach them.

And no....  I wlll never have anyone drive my car again.

Hubbs tells me that when "no fault" was on the ballot in Michigan, there was soooo much controversy especially from the trial lawyers.

@Group 5 minus 1 that's because it limits the right to sue.

What insurance company are you with? I would change to another company if they did something like this to me. No way to treat a longtime customer with few claims. Sounds like a State Farm.
