I think its Instantcart

Reporting back after my first Instacart experience. I have to admit, it was pretty darn handy.
Today was grocery shopping day for me. When I got up this morning at 5:30, I went to get some laundry out of the dryer and when I bent over and turned my head to get the laundry out, I had a vertigo attack.
So, it’s not the greatest day physically and I didn’t feel well enough to drive to the store and reach and bend and all that grocery shopping entails.
Picking the groceries from the the app was easy. They said they’d be delivered within two hours, but as I watched my order on the app, it was assigned to someone immediately and he began shopping our order like three minutes later. He finished quickly and got here quickly. Everything was fine with the order.
I tipped him in cash. When I got back inside, Instacart had texted me and gave me an option to add a tip to the order. So I didn’t do that but if I ever use it again I’ll know how it works.
I can’t see this being a regular thing for me, I actually don’t mind grocery shopping as a rule. But it helped me out today. I could have done the shopping tomorrow, but I don’t know if the vertigo will be a lot better then AND it’s supposed to be really cold here all day tomorrow.

I tried Instacart a few weeks ago when I pulled my hamstring and I couldnt put any pressure on my leg---the doctor gave me muscle relaxers and told me to stay off my leg and use a heating pad....I was running out of things and needed items at the store....my friends offered to go to the store, but I know how busy a couple of them were that week...
I tried Instacart and I included the tip when I paid for my groceries...the girl that delivered the groceries was very professional and very nice....and I told her I included a nice tip for her when I paid for the groceries....she thanked me, shook my hand and left and I got an email to rate her and the service...It was fast and convenient I ordered quite a bit but not a full week's worth of groceries, but yes I would use them again...

I have groceries delivered to my kids at college from Peapod. There isn't a way to tip that I know of.
I've never heard of Instacart. I'll have to look into that.
@gidgetgh, I always get the most useful tip from you on these boards! ![]()

No. The delivery fee goes to the company. The tip goes to the actual delivery person.
For deliveries, I tip according not to price of items, but by volume and weight. I live up a flight of stairs and get frequent deliveries from Amazon Prime Now. I ordered an Amazon Echo and the app wanted me to tip around $15 based on item price and I tipped $5 because it was in one bag and not very heavy. Another time I ordered $50 in groceries, including some canned goods and heavy items. I knew they were going to be heavier and probably in two bags, so I tipped more for hauling those up my stairs. I also tip more for deliveriers that come later at night, like past 9, and for deliveries on holidays or bad weather because the reason I'm getting a delivery is that I didn't feel like going out and the driver was willing to do it for me. I think that's worth my acknowledgement.
Tipping has some guidelines, but I feel it's mostly pretty random and at the whim of the person doing the tipping. I just try to do the best I can.

@Alison Wonderland I never tip for my amazon deliveries.I don’t even see the delivery person. You must be a favourite and fought over client.I can’t get over how generous Americans are with their tipping practices.I am from Canada and we didn’t tip half the people you do here in the USA.We usually tipped for something extra or unexpected or above and beyond services.
