I'm from a different generation when there were no cell phones, or social media or influencers, or any of that sutff. So, it's hard at times for some of us to understand all of this stuff and the fascination it holds for these newer generations. This is a way of life for them and they don't know anything different. I guess we can't fault them for it. All of this is all over t.v. and all over the phone and in music, etc.
I thank my lucky stars that I grew up in a much more simple time. Although I do find myself feeling lost at times and thinking -- what is all of this and why is it so important to so many people?
I can even remember back in my really younger days, we didn't have access to cameras, so that we could readily take pictures of every thing and anything that was happening in our lives. My mother had a kodak camera that had this film that had this really smelly solution, that I can't even explain it really it, and then the film went in these little canisters and you had to take these little canisters to be developed or send them away! Later on, we got little cameras, such as brownies, and you had to be careful to put the film in correctly or you got no pictures at all and the film also had to be carefully packaged and sent away to be developed. There were no snapping pictures and seeing instantly what the resuls were - or taking picutures over if you didn't like how you looked!
Wow -- thinking back -- a ton of things have changed - for sure!
I do like being able to snap a picture instantly on my Iphone and if I don't like how something looks, I just take another - and/or delete!
But - living for the camera -- and staging one's life -- this I am not really understanding, but as I said, I am from a much older generation!
Maybe some here can identify with some of the things I wrote??

Exactly!
I'll never understand why people let such things bother them.
@CalminHeart What is your secret then to ignoring such things? I usually agree with you and enjoy your posts but when someone is staring at their hand and almost walks into me, kinda hard not to let that bother me. Please advise. TIA!
Hi. Thank you for enjoying my posts.
I move out of the way. If I can't, I say somethng before they run into me... usually "hey" or "hello". Given all the shootings and crimes these days, I try to stay aware of my surroundings.
I admit, I've chuckled at the thought of letting them walk into my grocery cart but haven't done it because it's not nice.
I don't like being run into either. At my age, I don't want to be knocked over.

The thing I'm concerned about is the lack of real face to face conversation or interaction....it seems its nothing but texting and social media posts, no real actual physically meeting and talking to a human.
As time goes by will conversations only take place with technology platforms like Gemini, Copilot, Alexa, ChatGpt, Watson instead of talking to an actual human????!!!! OpenAI warns that chatting with an AI voice can breed “emotional reliance.”

Numerous studies suggest that excessive technology use, particularly social media, is associated with increased feelings of isolation and loneliness among young people, and a higher risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors. The rise in adolescent depression and suicide rates over the last two decades coincides with the widespread use of smartphones and social media creating a mental health crisis.

They are trying to make money. There are a lot of the. Big complition. Those that rise to the top can make millions. Lots of hostility to people that make money. Natural feelings.

I don't either, but a lot of millennials and gen z do and thats the problem because some of these influencers give inaccurate information which people take as truth when its not, or encourage dangerous behavior or challenges

Ok, I know that but what has it got to do with MY statement about ME? I'll answer that. Nothing.
I reread your post and don't think
I misunderstood, @monicakm. 🤷♀️

@KittySoftPaws Do you have any idea of how difficult to read your posting is? Why not use a larger type? Why not break it up into parragraphs to separate your ideas? Why not get to the point of what you're asking quickly without all the extraneous stuff?
