Independent Medical Exam reqd by Work Comp

I just received notice that my work comp carrier wants an IME, Independent Medical Exam. I fell in 2009 tore my mensicus in my rt knee and hurt my rt hip. The rt hip was also a hip replacement in 2007. I have had pain in the hip since that fall. The bruise from the fall was 4 inches long, along the incision line. I have been diagnosed now with bursitis in that joint. I never HAD bursitis before the fall and there is something called tramatic bursitis that can occur after injury. But bursitis is VERY common especially for my age. It's possible I tore the hip, but an MRI on a replaced hip would not be able to show anything. Work comp has paid all and I have done all. Yes had surgery on the knee.

So now, IME. Every IME I had ever seen was always to discharge a patient, in favor of the work comp carrier. I am being sent to a good practice, Loyola in Chicago. Far from home, difficult to get there in rush hour and I am supposed to obtain all my records and bring with. Why 8:30 a.m.?! Why not afternoon! Nope I have never driven to that area in rush hour which is BAD in every traffic report.

Fine...but I never received any work comp time off from work. I have had to use MY personal sick time of which I only get 10 days a year and my vacation time. I'm angy, I have to get MY records? Take another day off...so that will be 2 days off.

I have to do what they say. I'm not milking this, I just want to be like I was before the injury. That's not going to happen.

Has anyone had an IME that agreed there was still a problem? I'm telling you, every report I ever saw all said patient released no further treatment is necessary. I am in medical insurance claims...I know.

Thanks for any imput
