@Julie928 wrote:@nana59 ~ Well, I just blew my top! I immediately thought of this post and had to come back and post another comment. I mentioned earlier that we are fortunate to have a good relationship withour neighbors. Now I question that. I mean, how good can it be when we have now had to go over there three times in the past 10 days to ask them to bring their dogs in. I'm dealing with a lot right now. I'm tired, stressed and overall not doing well. Today alone the barking occurred at 11 AM, noon, 1:00, 3:00, 4:00 & 5:00. I was out this morning running errands so I'm sure I missed the morning count. I opened my kitchen window and saw the wife out on her front porch yacking it up with some other lady, all the while letting both dogs bark, bark and bark. I sent my husband over there because if I went it wasn't going to be pretty. They brought them in but seriously, this is it. Starting tomorrow I'm going to take the good advice of so many here and start calling the cops. I didn't mention their cat that they let out every single day to roam that likes to hang out on our roof. I caught it there three times in a week. It jumped off the roof onto my arbor and broke it (I saw all this with my own eyes). I got on a ladder and found several piles of cat poop where the cat likes to hang out. I mentioned this to her more than once but lo and behold, it was over here again today. This is my home ~ I shouldn't dread being here. Lately, this is the last place I want to be. Thanks for letting me vent....
@Julie928 I am with you on the barking, and something can be done about that, but a cat is anoither story. I have never known a cat to poop on a roof, usually they like to bury their business, and I would be upset also if there wre poop on my roof. Even feral cats I have domesticated have used litter pans.
"As a cat cannot trespass its owner cannot be legally responsible for what their cat does outside of their property." This may not be true everywhere, but if there is a law against cats trespassing, I am not aware of it. I hope your inconsiderate neighbor at least brings the cat inside at night.

@Katcat1 wrote:I don't think anyone could take continuous dog barking. if the neighbor is unpleasant then calling the police sounds like the right thing to do. You would think the neighbor would hate the sound of the barking unless he is not home.
No one is home during the day--both parents work and older kids in school. This dog is a new addition to a family of no one--why do people do that?

@Annabellethecat66 wrote:I've only owned cats, so I don't know what it's like hearing a dog bark all of the time like that.
I can't imagine how terrible it must be. I also can't imagine living in a house where these dogs bark all of the time like that!! How in the world can the people who live there stand the noise?
How about the neighbors on the other side and surrounding him? Get together with them and contact the police. Write letters to your local leaders. Where I live the local leaders have (more than one time) helped out with various problems that are non-life threatning, but extremely annoying!
I hope you come back here and let us know how it's going. Often people come on here with problems and never follow up and let us know how it's going. If nothing else how you are able to settle your problem (hopefully) will help others to know how deal with a similar problem.
Sometimes problems (not this one though) seem small to others, but the affected people it's not so small. If we can help each other it only makes live easier for everyone.
Things like the OP mentioned can eventually affect someone's health. Not being able to sleep and trying to block out the noice I would think, could even affect a person's life and blood pressure, etc.
I'll let you know how things are going. Thanks!

@mousiegirl ~ The laws about cats are weird around here. They tell me cats are "free roaming animals" so nothing can be done. Then they tell me there is a trespass law that states that no animal (dog, cat, rabbit, lol) is allowed to go onto another person's property. I mentioned to them more than once that this makes no sense. I feel bad for both the cat and the dogs. The dogs are barking because they want to go in and they are left outside by themselves. I've seen the cat many, many times sitting outside the front door in all kinds of weather meowing to be let in ~ once again, being ignored. I don't understand people like this ~ why have an animal if you aren't going to care for it? Totally irresponsible ~ then there's the property damage. The thing that gets me is they didn't even offer to pay to have my arbor fixed. I'm thankful for this forum because it reminds me that I'm not alone ~ many others are experencing the same garbage. Sometimes you just need to vent.....Have a good night!

@DiAnne wrote:I had a neighbor with a small/med dog that barked and barked. When she went to work the dog could get in and out through a dog door. I could not use my backyard at all. If she was home and heard the dog she would bring him in the house. It was miserable. After three years she moved and the new owner has two rescue greyhounds and a boxer. I seldom hear those dogs. That is why I love big dogs!
@DiAnne Not all big dogs are quiet. A Gr. Pyrennes is an incessant barker, and there are probably other breeds that are.
