Re: If you know a teacher....

If we can celebrate President's day on Monday even if it falls on another week day, why can't Halloween be celebrated the last Saturday of October? It would be much easier for little kids to go out earlier in the day, and having a day between Trick or Treating is a good idea for everyone!

Never underestimate the power of kindness.

@Carmie I think people with kids just want an excuse to explain their bad behavior.LOL

It might be a good idea to start class each day with a meditation exercise. No, I'm serious.  Meditation and yoga have been introduced in the schools at the grade school level. I've seen several news segments about it and the children interviewed seem to be getting benefit out of it, saying they feel calmer and more alert. You still have time to clear it with administration.

With content/curriculum times so limited even to take 10 minutes out of the class time to do this would not be approved in my experience, although I believe it would be beneficial for some of the kiddos.

On the other hand my unmedicated ADHD would still remain unfocused and/or disruptive.

Re: If you know a teacher....

It was so hard to get the kids to sleep on Halloween.   Then they were tired and grumpy the next morning.

My my kids never got a lot of sugar even on Halloween.  We just aren't big on candy

@I can appreciate that @maestra, but I'm thinking at the grade level @Mellie32 teaches (1st grade?), she may not have the same curriculum constraints as older grades.  And what about taking out the 10 minutes from gym class? These physical/mental techniques can be of great value for their entire lives.

As parents we can control the amount of Halloween candy our young children consume.

By now you should be used to it. After all it happens every year.

No, Halloween doesn't fall on Monday every year.

And your a teacher? She was referring to the date. Maybe if this teaching gig is too much for you, you may want to do something that is less taxing like post on a shopping board all day..

There is absolutely zero reason to be this rude.

Also - I'm quite aware that she was referring to the date.  This thread doesn't say "If you know a teacher, be nice to her/him because October 31st is coming" --- it's because Halloween is on a Monday this year.  You see?

That is true --- and some parents don't.
