Well, paint me stupid! It got posted to the wrong thread......of course, not MY fault....HAH!

Don't ask me where I intended it to show up......I can't remember......I suffer from CRS, you know! However, wherever it was supposed to post was more appropriate....I'm certain of that. I may eventually get it straightened out......or not.

I did sort of wonder why the scull/woman at dressing table was included in this thread.

I'd be so worried about botching a suicide attempt and making the situation worse:/

On a practical note, shorty, I'd get a one story home...make your living situation easier on yourself.

Shorty -

In spite of your bad back, you still have much to enjoy in life, and you have a wonderful husband who is able to help you.

There are others in much worse shape and with multiple conditions that are life threatening. I held my best friend's hand as she died from pancreatic cancer, each day bringing a new horror for her. You just can't compare that kind of suffering with the pain that is routine for me and for you.

Some people have no one to help them, or their significant other is ill, also. Some soil themselves or can't get out of bed, or have nothing to look forward to.

Seems pretty presumptuous of you to tell someone just how much pain they are or aren't in. I think I'd leave that decision to the person suffering.

Shorty, I hope you are able to get some relief if only for periods of time, as I know how that can help brighten your outlook on life. I'm glad you have a husband who is able and willing to assist you. Blessings to you both.

There needs to be a new name for putting yourself out of extreme misery when you have no chance of improving and a diagnosis that agrees. A ""suicide"" still carries such a mental health stigma. Maybe it should just be called a ""Release"".

Re: If you had bad health issues would you go on?

Shorty, my heart thoughts and prayers are being sent to you right now. My legs are what are giving me a lot of pain that has finally just about brought me to a halt. They have hurt me since I was in my 20's but I kept doing every thing. I climbed ladders to paint the out side of our barn, garage and home. Mowed over 3 acres of grass every week by walking behind a mower not a riding mower. I also had a family and a job to go to work out side our home and every job I have ever had was one that involved being on my feet. When the knees were bone on bone the doctors said I was too young for knee replacements so I just kept going. No I never had the replacements for different reasons. But I say pain is pain and it hurts and some times you think what the use to go on. For you there is a man in your life who loves you so much and will do any thing to help you. Me my husband passed away many years ago but my family is here for me and they do things for me to make life easier, but so many have no one to lend them a helping hand and couples who have children who do not live close to help. Some only have each other and there is no one available to come or no one wants to help or they are to ashamed to say they need help. My cousin had horrible back problems because of a car accident that was not her fault she would scream for god to let her die because pills shots etc. did nothing to help her. She did all her own house work yelling in pain then for a week she was on her sofa and couldn't do any thing. We have another family member who is right now dealing with a incurable illness and it is going to take his life and his family are with him as they watch every day another part of his body he is loosing use of. I don't know if I could take my own life but neither would I blame some one who is in so much agony that they can't stand living any more .My only wish is when some one decides they are going to end their life I wish they would think of which way they are going to carry this out. I think when a person decides to take a gun and shoot themselves in the head or any other place on their body but especially their heads they had no thoughts or respect or love for their family. We had a neighbor who did that and the mess the family had to clean up after wards was horrible and they never ever got that scene out of their memory. That choice like any take courage but darn it if a person is thinking about ending their life they should also think about the family members that are left behind and what they have to go through after the deed is done. By the way my cousin did not take her life she passed away from another illness along with the back pain.

That's not what I said at all.

I'm sure even you would not equate back pain to pancreatic cancer.

I agree. Especially when you're in hospice care and the end is coming anyway.

Re: If you had bad health issues would you go on?

At this moment, I think I would kill myself if in terrible health and/or pain and no hope of a recovery. They say most people aren't as afraid of dying as much as dying in pain. I hope I would have the nerve to do it. I have had friends tell me like the other poster said about people being advised about the morphine doses and then being left in the room to decide themselves. I take comfort that there is that compassion. I don't know how it is in hospice, but a lot of doctors don't want to prescribe strong painkillers because of the problems we've all heard about and it's getting harder for people with legitimate pain problems to get relief. I say who cares if they're addicted and out of pain if they're under a doctor's care and supervised. There's no reason in this day and age for people to suffer needlessly if they're truly ill and/suffering.
