Re: If you had $50,000 to improve your home where would you spend it ?

Crown molding in the living, dining, den and master. Paint kitchen cabinets white (the color they are now is nice, but not my preference). A rock fireplace in the backyard. A jacuzzi outside the door off our bedroom. Extend the patio on both sides. Paint the exterior and put on shutters. That would probably be more than $50k, but at some point, we are going to do all of that. If I had $50k to do something I probably won't do but would like to, I'd gut the master, master bath, and room next to it, and totally rearrange it, making it a huge master suite with a bigger shower and massive closets. If hubby has anything to do with it, we will do that, too. Maybe in a decade. Smiley Wink

Re-do master bath. Take out huge tub and put in a walk in shower as I age.

New windows.

New flooring throughout.

I would add a 3 or 4 season porch in our backyard with exposed beams and stained cathedral ceilings and a huge stone fireplace. And wood floors in the bedrooms. I already have the quotes and my husband agrees that we can do it... I'm hesitating.

I'd add a third bedroom onto the back of the house with a master bath and if any money left over would refinish the basement with a lot of built in storage.

I'd tear it down and start again. The 50K would probably cover demo and removal.

I'd have the outside and inside of my home re-painted. It's just maintenance/upkeep.

$50,000 doesn't go far in So. CA. So if anything was left, I'd have a storage cabinet installed in the kitchen area and maybe another smaller cabinet.

A for sale sign. One more year. Son will be a senior in high school come August when school starts back. Then my dream house. I'm already looking. And watching the market. Or build from scratch. I'm kinda picky.

A spool (combination spa/pool). It's small enough to dip myself in.

Then I would rip out my garden tub (useless to us) and replace it with a deep walk in shower with no doors.

If I had money left over, I would replace my black/speckled granite countertops with quartz. Other than that, my house is only 5 years old so...those would be my changes. For now, it's absolutely fine.
