@MickD Cuba Gooding Sr did some gospel plays after he left The Main Ingredient.
@itiswhatitis my favorite Main Ingredient tune is Spinning Around.

@itiswhatitis hadn't thought of that song in years. It's such a beautiful one. Until I read your post, I had never heard it by The Main Ingredient; however, I am very familiar with Curtis Mayfield's version. He wrote the lyrics.
Prettier than all the world
And I'm so proud, I'm so proud of you.
You're only one fella's girl.
And I'm so proud, I'm so proud of you.
I'm so proud of being loved by you.
And it would hurt, hurt to know
If you ever were untrue.
Sweeter than the taste o a cherry so sweet.
And I'm so proud, I'm so proud of you.
Compliments to you from all the people we meet.
Yes, and I'm so proud,
Believe me I love you, too.
I'm so proud of being loved by you.
And it would hurt, hurt to know
If you ever were untrue.
Sweeter than the taste of a cherry so sweet.
Yeah, and I'm so proud of you,
I'm so proud of you.
I'm so proud of being loved by you

Curtis Mayfield killed it when he sang w/The Impressions!
==========
Gooding Sr. was found inside his own car behind the wheel.
"Never argue with a fool. Onlookers may not be able to tell the difference."

@Tique, Girl......that song. Whew......I love it.
I remember Mayfield's rendition as well. There's a chance he wrote it. Need to double check. Beau-tee-ful! I'm heading to youtube and Google to make sure The Main Ingredient Sang it too.....I could be wrong.

Led by Bert DeCoteaux
They have released 13 albums.
The original line-up comprised Donald McPherson (b. 9th July 1941, d. 4 July 1971), Luther Simmons Jnr. (b. 9th September 1942), and Tony Silvester (b. 7th October 1941, Panama). They released their first singles as "The Poets" (not to be confused with "The Poets" who had released "She Blew A Good Thing" in 1966). From 1967 to 1970 they called themselves The Insiders (4). Later in 1970 they finally renamed into "The Main Ingredient". Cuba Gooding replaced Donald McPherson in 1971, but left the band in 1978 for a solo career
I found this on their Discogrophy (sp)? Curtis wrote a lot of stuff. Those were good music times for me....
Just learned here today that Cuba Sr., left The Main Ingredient....and there was someone before him too.
