Thanks everyone for the "warm" wishes, we made need them if we lose power! I'm heading out to Wegmans to see if there's any food left, then to the gym to get a workout in but I think I'll be getting a good workout once the snow starts to fall and we have our shovels ready. We already have our plan, go out and shovel every couple of hours. DH & I are 61 years old and we can't shovel 2 feet of snow at once!! I have already stocked up on wine!!!!!! We're right in the bullseye of the storm!! Lucky us!!!!

@Hayfield I'm also in the bulls eye and I can't shovel at all. Second heart attack for me since last August. I can't do any shovelling. It would be hard to shovel anyway with winds over 40 mph and gusts over 50. If you can do that, you're wonder woman!!!! Please be careful because I just don't see anybody going out in blizzard conditions shovelling snow to make shovelling easier. Please don't put yourself in danger.

@Tallgal wrote:Thanks for your kind post. I live in Virginia where the blizzard is suppose to start tomorrow, Friday afternoon after 1 pm. I survived going to the grocery store last night, very crowded. I have food in the pantry and full tank of fuel in my vehicle. Now it is just the waiting game. It will be interesting to see how much snow we get in Virginia.
I'm with you @Tallgal since I'm also in VA (less than 10 miles outside of DC). All stocked up, gassed up, and extra cash in hand. Even bought new doggie toys for my furbaby when she needs exercise play indoors tomorrow. Stay safe!

Thanks to all for the good wishes on this an other threads this morning. As I mentioned on another thread, I'm also in the direct path, living in the metro DC area. I'm very afraid right now, as I live alone. But I know we'll eventually get through this. My prayers go out to all in the path of this monster storm. I'm praying right now and will do a whole lot of this for the foreseeable future. Hugs and prayers to all.

Thanks for the kind post. I think my household is as ready as we can be.
One thing I wanted to mention is to shovel the area outside your front door periodically so you can get out. The last time we had a blizzard like this it snowed heavily overnight and people became trapped in their homes because the snow was so high they couldn't open their doors. I remember staying up most of the night to clear our front stoop every couple hours.
I'm thinking of everyone in the storm's path and praying that we all stay safe and warm. ![]()

I'm just hoping the power doesn't go out here in Greensboro NC with this storm. The snow started this morning at 4 am and now it's sleeting. It's supposed to continue into tomorrow and temps hovering around 29 degrees.... We're not use to this type of weather here in the Piedmont area of NC... Can't wait to see my power and gas bills next time.

Storm moving slowly. It will reach us about 3pm and it will stall (so I am told) over our area giving us 60 mile an hour winds and 3 feet of snow. Heck I am only 5 feet tall. I could make some glorious tunnels. I PLAN TO GO OUT EVERY HOUR ON THE HOUR AND SHOVEL, SHOVEL, SHOVEL. Unlike hubby all my exercise comes from shoveling, raking, doing house work, yard work etc. He can have HIS MAN CAVE with his exercise equipment. When I get finished I will have DONE SOMETHING VISIBLE.
PS I live in western Maryland

Yes, in the path as you are. So much fun. Be safe everyone. Love these mountains but when it really really snows... anyones guess when we will get out.
It is the lack of electricity that gets me. Good thing I got lots of books and Kindle stuff.

@KatieB After this passes through the Georgia mountains, I'm sure your neighbors here will be sending our power crews your way. I used to live in North Carolina and I remember how paralyzing winter weather is there. I'm sure we'll have your back.
North Georgia isn't supposed to get hit too bad despite the media coverage frenzy. I'm sure our state will have plenty of people to help the Carolinas and TN. I'd be disappointed if they did not.

Thanks @Laura14 !! I just heard on the news that Duke Energy will be sending in the troops from GA... Now it's 24 degrees and feels like 13.... Too cold for me.... BTW, Laura was my sister's name....
