Try a ThermiPaq clay cold/hot pad. It uses clay that conforms to the body. It has a cover with elastic velcro band on it so you can wrap around knee, ankle, wrist etc.

I have 2 in the freezer.

Thank you @gizmogal.  Yes, all that is true and I'll be a bit more careful about how I use ice from now on. The wound has been cleansed, treated and bandaged for the night so it's a little tender right now but nothing Tylenol can't handle.

Have you had any problems with these oozing clay?  It's not the brand I used to have but I did have some that had a thinner clay consistency but the product would split.  Yucky nasty stuff inside.

If I’m consistent with stretching exercises with my sciatic pain is almost nothing. (Piriformis syndrome)

Cold is a big no for me.

@monicakm

Are you feeling better now?

I find it odd for anyone to put heat on inflammation, but lots of people do it.

Personally, I find COLD packs better than ICE packs, which can be "too much".

@Tinkrbl44

I'm finally feeling better as of last night.  Man, I never thought it would be as hard as it's been for this thing to get better.

I know heat feels soothing, but ice is instant relief.  Some people just can't handle the cold.

I use cold PACKS, ice was just a generalization.  Our top shelf in the freezer is solely dedicated to ice packs.

I know it's suggested to limit your time with ice and heat, I have just been able to tolerate it for much longer with no apparent side effects until now Smiley Surprised
