If you dump the bucket, it means you don't have to donate, right?

If you don't dump, then you are supposed to donate.

That means all those people who are dumping the ice water buckets over their heads are saying they don't want to donate?

Most people seem to be dumping AND donating.

On a local newscast, a doctor spoke about the challenge. The anchor asked if she'd been challenged and she replied she hadn't. The anchor then challenged her. She said she'd happily donate. The anchor said, no, she should do both. She agreed to.

That may be true, but most videos I've seen make no mention of making a donation.

I'm just saying the premise of the challenge is to dump the bucket or make a donation, so all these people dumping the buckets are saying they'd rather do that than make a donation. It doesn't make sense.

Don't get me wrong ... I think it's good that it has brought more awareness to ALS. I just question whether those dumping the water over themselves are really donating.

The fact of the matter stands that most are dumping AND donating. Hey, whatever works. I applaud the ALS Foundation for thinking up this creative idea. Once you learn more about ALS, you can't help but want to donate money to the cause. Especially if it's touched your family or circle of friends in any way.

They are doing both...and passing on the challenge too.

I didn't think this challenge came from the foundation, rather a former Boston College baseball player who is afflicted with the disease.

I read this weekend one of his best friends, who was a co-founder of the challenge, drowned this past weekend.

Raising awareness is a wonderful thing. To those praising it, have you taken the challenge? Don't forget. Walk the walk now!

If it's helping a very worthwhile cause, and people are having fun with it, what makes it hokey?

Received the challenge, accepted the challenge, passed the challenge on and made a donation.

How do you know? Most of the ones I have seen make no mention of donating. Like I said, taking the bucket actually means you'd rather endure that than donate.

One of my FB friends who did this challenged her friends and said you can either do this or donate.{#emotions_dlg.confused1}
