Certainly raised awareness , for this we may find a cure.. Ignorance I am not so sure.Sorry, but this is one of the dumbest things I've seen in a long time ..... dumping a bucket of cold water on your head is NOT 'supportive".
What a silly idea.
Tinkrbl44 may not have realized that a donation accompanies the bucket of ice water. Or maybe she knows that...
Most likely she knows that with all the Internet publicity it has received. I'm sure you don't have to participate in the bucket of ice water "game" to donate to this great cause for ALS. They'll take your money without the ice. I hope they exceed their goal of 20 million $$.
Every year at fairs and carnivals across the USA there is a dunk tank game where people throw balls at the tank hoping to release the person into the water. This too is a fund raiser game to raise money for a good community cause. Is that silly too?

Why do people need motivation like this to donate to a worthy cause? It's strange that they get the urge to donate/pay just to see someone get totally shocked and possibly have a heart attack.

I think it's a fun idea, and people seem to be having a lot of fun with it while raising money too.

If Ethel Kennedy could do it...anyone can.
No one is going to have a heart attack.
The participants are posting on FB and challenging friends - which is making this grow...

I don't think anyone has died as yet, for heaven's sake. Ethyl kennedy did it and she is pretty old.
Good for her!

Last year, ALS donations were something over one million.
This year, so far, they're over $13 million.

EVERYBODY'S donating!
