you might want to go back and remove the outside link.

@Tori3569,

I will never ever get it! You know I was thinking should I even post this but I just typed out the website I didn't use a link or copy and paste anything! So how could there be a link? Now that I see my post it was edited to remove outside link and I didn't even edit it! Twilight zone for sure.

@on the bay - one of the the forum moderators, Barbara, kindly did it for you.

@JeanLouiseFinch,

Thank you! I still don't see how there was a link at all.

But last time I copied and pasted something (and I didn't this time!)

I never saw any links or how to recognize any outside links and I was banned for 3 days!-first and only time in 20 years here! And no warning at all-just couldn't sign in and got an email that I was banned.

This time I guess I got lucky with an understanding moderator!

How do you pay estimated taxes online?  My CPA has always given me coupons to send in with checks.  I didn't know you could pay them online except through IDme (I think), which I've never set up.

It is very easy and convenient to pay online and no worries about payments getting lost in the mail like mine did.

I pay my estimated tax on IRS Direct Pay.  If you google it, you'll find the website.  I have been using this site a long time and have never had a problem.

Right now I'm mad at Pennsylvania.  I don't pay estimated tax because my only TAXABLE income is interest and dividends.  They do not tax pension income or social security.  BUT they sent me a bill for a penalty of $23.00 for not paying estimated taxes.  I refuse to pay estimated taxes on income I may or may not receive!  I may call my state senator's office.

It sounds like DirectPay. I use the DirctPay option at IRS.GOV, all the time, to pay my estimated taxes ( still working as a consultant). As soon as you send the payment, it displays a confirmation with everything. I always print that  for April tax submission, but you can also take a photo so you have the documentation- I've been doing it this way for 5 years, with no problems.
It does sound like maybe you made a mistake in your submission- See if you can go back and look at the past activity or history, or get a copy of the payment to check what was input. If you sent a check quickly to cover the amount, it will be fine-

This doesn't seem like an IRS error to me, but error on the part of the OP. How would the IRS know the checking/savings account number if the OP didn't provide it? They can only deduct from the account number you provide. This isn't an issue with the routing number, I think you may have provided them with the wrong account number to deduct your payments by mistake.

I pay via the IRS app. We do estimated taxes & have had a lot of theft from mailboxes & our accountant advised us to use the app. You can preview before submission & you only get a receipt via email stating you scheduled a payment. After it goes through my bank, I print out proof of payment. You can preview scheduled payments for accuracy as well & if not correct, you can cancel it before it’s processed of course. I’ve had no issues & feel much safer. You do not need to set up an account.
