Just hang up and ignore them. If anything is wrong they said letters. I know.

I got one of those calls and told her to go take a hike. They actually called back a week later and left a message on our answering machine. I think most of these calls are generated overseas. Our local TV stations has a segment on the news each weekday called "Scam Alert." This one pops up a lot. You are right. It is beyond despicable.

I had just gotten out of the hospital when I received back to back calls from the supposed IRS. The last thing I needed to do was run to the phone. I just try and block them now.
My BIL got them and was told to meet someone at the local 7 11. He was worried and didn't realize it was a scam. He mentioned it recently to me in conversation. Sometimes people who are older and not sophisticated regarding these scams really get upset. Sad..

I have gotten those calls and as soon as I ask for their full name and phone number so I can call the police they hang up. I haven't had any more calls.

I asked him if he was calling from inside the US. He confirmed that. I started to blast him. I said how dare you try to scam me while living in this country in comfort and freedom. Decided to scare him a little bit and told him he just called the house of a state police officer and I could have him arrested. The line went dead! Haven't gotten anymore Microsoft calls.
@Tricolor .... these people are not in the United States ... they call from foreign countries ( mostly India) ... they somehow "spoof" the phone # that they are calling from to make it look like a US phone # ... Sometimes I answer the phone just to mess with them . .. I go along with them for a few minutes asking stupid questions & keep them on the phone wasting their time before I start cursing them out!!! ..... I get such satisfaction doing this !! .... It's annoying that they think we are so stupid to believe them!!! 😱😱

Sadly, the reason people keep getting these type of calls is because they work. These scams have been going on for many years. But still you read about people who sent $$$$ to one scam or another, And those are the ones who report it to the police. There are probably many more who don't report it or worse don't remember or don't realize they are being scammed.
Hopefully, in 20 years I will not fall for one of these scams.

MAKE SURE YOU REPORT IT.

We just got one of those phone calls the other day. My daughter was home and thought it was real (the answering machine got it). I told her when the IRS wants you, you will get a certified letter, never a phone call!!!

We had a recent call allegedly from the DOJ! I'm aware it's a scam call and deleted, but I have to admit being a little freaked out due to some of my cyber rants about the current DOJ! LOL!
