Got a couple of his sweaters now that they were marked down. Haven't had a cashmere sweater before. The item description states to hand wash and lay to dry.
Would someone recommend what detergent and additional washing instructions? Thank you!

I would play it safe and dry clean

I do what Mother taught me- always dry clean.

I have had cashmere in the past. I don't care what anyone says I would never hand wash cashmere. I've tried to wash sweaters and the just lose shape and shrink. Dry Clean Only for me.

That's what I thought and the reason, aside from the expense, that I've always stayed away from cashmere! Thanks.

Woolite, hand wash in cold water or delicate cycle. Lay flat to dry. Take measurements before washing, width and length, when laying out the wet garment make sure measurements are the same. Cashmere washes beautifully if care is taken.

I have always worn cashmere for the warmth and durability. Mother taught me well. I have some cashmere turtlenecks that have to be 20 years old, and I am still wearing them. My winter gloves are always cashmere-lined leather because they are warm yet supple. I go for quality that lasts.

I have quite a few cashmere sweaters from past years. So I was excited to buy the new Isaac ones. I got two of them home and thought I had been attacked by bed bugs. I pulled the thing off and couldn't stop itching.
If it's cashmere, it not the kind I have in mind. It is scratchy and terrible.

It sounds like fur blend. Cashmere is soft

I have a hand wash cycle on my washing machine. I have several IM cashmere sweaters. I use cold water and mild detergent. I take them out of the washing machine and shape the sweater and lay flat to dry.
I have always washed cashmere and never had a problem.
