If I was rich....

Fund refugee charities and certain other charities

Fund food banks/pantries

Donate to my church

Help my kids

Sell my house and move to independent living

Put away for future needs

@spumoni99 Don't worry.  I don't assume anything about what people say on this subject.  We don't know what people really give or don't give, no matter what they say they give.

I'm going to add this note.  I was shocked at what one group in our state is raking in and how few people they really help for the millions spent.

They get funding from state, feds, county, busineses, churches, people etc. and their budget is millions and some of their people are paid a LOT.

If you are interested in giving, you might want to look at financial figures for a group, or if they aren't available, ask yourself why.  I was shocked and now my donations go elsewhere.  I am very disappointed in a big and well-thought-of group I used to donate to and believe in.

Always do your research and know where the money is going.  I guess I just assumed people knew enough to do that. If you don't, you will be shocked by some organizations.

Charity Navigator gives info on many 501c3 companies which gives one more confidence donating.

What does one consider "rich?"  Lots of money in the bank (how much), large income stream?

I've also wondered what "rich" might mean to everyone.

If we're talking billions and billions, then many of the dreams are doable.

Mere millions would mean investing the principle to throw off the investment income annually needed to sustain the dream.

@THEY CallMe Mr Wilkes  Rich, I was thinking Billions as well. Rich if also different to each person.  You would need billions just to build some facilities, and pay taxes...at least here in Calif I wouldn't want to think of taxes, lol 1.5 %  each year on sale price, or appraised value of finished property . It costs a lot to have money, lol

So many people have mentioned donating to charities -- sadly, many of those charities are very suspect, giving only a very limited portion of the donations to the cause,  At a minimum, I recommend researching any charity to which you donate, on Charity Navigator.com. I also Google the charity to learn as much about the grouo as possible before I donate. In addition, I subscribe to Charity Watch and get a booklet full of ratings twice a year, reviewing charity ratings carefully before I donate.

I'm pretty much that I want to either a detailed account of a charity group's actions and some budget figure that is reliable.  How much do you get in federal and state money?  Groups such as churches, donations?

I. always check the charities out. For me, I direct my donation to smaller foundations. Like I never  give to,ASPCA, instead I give to a couple animal and wildlife rescue groups in my state.    Instead of the cancer society I donate to Susan Love Breast Cancer Research.  Etc.  there is more accountability as far as expenses go. Wages are less. Most all  groups I give to have salaries.  They are reasonable, and considering the vast work they do it is to be expected.  It costs to fund raise, and even with volunteers there are lots of costs. and if you serving a large area, with wonderful facilities it's worth every penny.  All the charities I donate to, welcome me to the on sight facilities.
