Well, looks like we all need to put ourselves in one mindset when we all get rich. We need to get rich all at once. I would love to see a huge mega center, or little small places in all areas across America serving the homeless, the needy, and everyday people struggling. No kill shelters. Offer food, shelter, housing, sober centers, counseling. etc. it would take a small army and billions. But, wish big...go big. Do it up right.

I would find housing for my family and friends that need it, then for others. I only need a certain amount of money to live and that is not much. I would give it away to those who need help. I would be like Warren Buffat and still live in my little starter house.
I would not feel right living in a big expensive house while others are in need.

Shore house! Yep, a big old house on the beach with plenty of outdoor space with sweeping views. Just returned today from a mini vacation with my kids, their significant others and our grandbaby. We rented a place right on the ocean for a few days and it was heaven to have all of us together without a care in the world. If I won the lottery I would buy the nicest property that I could for my extended family and friends to use whenever they wanted.
Next, I would research charities to help. Tunnels to Towers and Furball Farms in Minnesota are good ones. Also, our local parochial grade school to make sure the teachers have everything they need to make the kids' early learning experiences the best ever.

@shoekitty Millions and megacenters are almost everywhere now and unhoused shelter groups are even building small houses. In a small city I know of the main group's budget starts at $4 million, accepts donations, the director makes $100,000 plus. That doesn't count another million or so from local groups and churches. And it doesn't count Salvation Army, which also serves a lot of people with shelters in town.
Services are available for more people than will take advantage of them. But at least around where I come from, help is available and being added to in big ways.

That's EXACTLY what I woud do!!!

@Sooner that's great! We are in California, near Silicon Valley and there aren't a lot of facilities. Probably just not enough. That's the problem We live on the edge of County, a little more agricultural. Garlic Capital of the World. We do have a Sober House. A facility for medical, dental and such. The Armory is our main place in colder months. Usually open Nov-April. They get a meal, and nights rest. Some of the bigger cities give bus tickets to come here. Salvation Army can provide a bag lunch, and they have resources. Although our town is 55,000, if you go 20 miles north you are talking towns of 1 millions or so. Money is tight and programs get cut. Sadly

I would give my fortune to children who are dying because of malnutrition and lack of vaccinations.

Its too bad more of the super rich weren't as philanthropic as the ladies here.

I would certainly do charitable things such as helping animals. I also would do a lot to help the elderly and veterans. Also, of course, child welfare. I naturally would want to help my own situation and improve mine and DH's life. Nothing fancy at all - just do some things to make our lives better and safer. And a couple of family members and friends as well.
