Good for you. Years back I attended a fashion show and people were winning beautiful items and generous gift certificates. Then my number was called and I won a pair of pantyhose! The thrill was gone. Guess it broke my pattern of never winning though.

Over the years I have won a few things from a huge baker's basket to most recently a facial gift certificate while in FL.

Exciting to win something; however, I was happier handing the baking basket over to a mom with several children in the audience.

The certificate I gave to a mid-age next door neighbor before we left to come back North. We had just moved to the new condo when she mentioned how bored she had been that she went to school for facials and such. She worked part time especially during snowbird season.

She loved the surprise gift and said how hard it is to give oneself a facial. She has made it very easy to slip into the new community. As an 81-yo, it made me very happy that someone was going to truly enjoy my winning !

I have always found it truly better to give than receive...
