@GoneButNotForgotten

There are definitely some lines where you can begin to pick up a piece or two to create a contemporary wardrobe.

Take a look at I C Collections, John Mark (right now, he's mixing patterns but it will change), Ali Miles, and Foxcroft shirts (Appleseeds has great prices on these), Habitat, among others.  I would suggest to use lace edging carefully.

This is I C Collections. They do solid and print jackets.  Mine is solid royal blue.  So easy with a blouse and a mid wide to narrow pant with almost any shoe.

Also, google image "ladies smart casual outfits" for example.

I wish I were about 20 years old. I love a lot of the fashions, hairstyles, jewelry, etc. that are designed for younger people. I'm genuinely old and those flashy and trendy designs would look silly on me. And when I was growing up, my mother cautioned me about how too many women who dress inappropriately for their age look like they're trying too hard. I took that advice to heart and have used a light touch with make-up, jewelry etc.

So...if you're young, go ahead and enjoy your big hoop earrings (my special favorite), current fads and fashions. You're only young once so enjoy it and don't waste it Woman Very Happy

NO Thank U!!! I would never want to be 20 years old again. Don't care about what fashion or whatever. Life is not getting any better for younger people. Why waste a wish on such a superficial desire?

I enjoyed fashion in my 20s and I still enjoy it. There are many things that we didn't have back then that we have now. I wear cute jeans, tops, and jackets. I wear my jewelry, makeup, and style my hair. I definitely didn't give up.

I love being 70. I loved being 20. For myself when I see beautiful young women wearing the trends I applaud them in my mind. I had my day in the sun. Wore cute short skirts, mini dresses and I remember the summer I was 20 wearing tank tops or halter tops with white hiphugger jeans. Long hair blowing in the wind...

At 70, I am very happy I tried all the trends and am very satisfied that I know the difference between trying to recapture my youth and trying too hard....

@ahoymate

Being pleased and comfortable with how you look is a healthy attitude and certainly not superficial.  If it's not for you fine.

Being happy with life as it is today is good mental health.
