Maybe "promotion" is the wrong word to use, but there is a vacancy for a position where I work, and the position is one rank above where I am now.

At least two other co-workers of mine are also applying for that coveted spot.

It will mean more clerical/computer work, more responsibility, and yes, more pay, but I want all of that.

It will be a challenge, but I look forward to work that is challenging, that makes me use my brain more.

The next step will be a phone interview.

I have been in the position that I now hold since 2008, and I finally feel ready to take the next step.

Is it scary to take the next step?

Yes, it is, but it's a good kind of scary.
