I think this attitude is wrong

A man at church today said that the entire nation's Christmas has been destroyed by the shooting at the school in Conn. I think it is a very sad thing that happened and my heart breaks for those 20 families but - really- what would ruining your families Christmas do to make any of this any better for those families? What would be the point in millions of people all across the nation not celebrating Christmas this year as they normally do? Would that make their loss any less? Or lessen their pain?

My Mom once told me about the Christmas of 1941 - Pearl harbor had been attacked and thousands of people were dead. Our country had been forced into a war we had been trying desparatly to avoid and for millions of young men they were spending their last Christmas at home before leaving for the war. People used it as a time to celebrate with their loved ones and to make sure they went off to war with a great memory of the day knowing why they were fighting this war - to preserve the American way of life.

I think this Christmas we should hold our loved ones close and celebrate the American way of life.Say a heartfelt prayer for those families but please - don't ruin your families Christmas over this. When you do that - the evil wins.
