@orangegarnet wrote:@Pearlee, several years ago I kept hearing something in the attic and went up there... up popped Mr. Raccoon's head- I said, "You gotta go."... They'd gotten in through a hole in the roof (we had no idea it was there) and they'd gone through all my Christmas decorations and stole anything with glitter or that sparkled. I told our neighbors if they found ornaments or beads in their yards, it was ours, LOL .. Animal trapper said to leave a radio going in the attic and the lights on til we got it fixed..
@Suziepeach I'm surprised the trapper told you that because I read a lot on the 'net about them after my "encounter" and everything I read said that doesn't work! They don't get scared away by the noise nor the light. They like it up in the attics!
It also said 90% of the time there are babies. And, sure enough, I could hear the "chatter" if I opened the door up to my attic. It was awful. Sounded like they were having a good old time up there chattering among themselves! Fortunately, although everything I read said they usually stay six months (eeek!) mine left on their own after two months. Thank goodness because removal (trapping them) is really expensive. I have since had an "exclusion guy" cover up the vent where they were coming in (I could hear them come in at dawn and leave at dusk...."yeah guys, make yourself right at home, no key necessary") and two other vents where the guy said some animal or other had tried to get in but didn't.
Sorry about your decorations...I think they did a lot of damage up in my attic too. Funny how selective yours were LOL! Anyway, the heavy-duty-guage cagelike material the guy put over my vents is supposed to be narrow enough to keep bats out too. Sigh. Live and learn.
The day I came face to face with the raccoon I actually thought it was kinda cute. I just didn't want it up in my attic!

@Pearlee, the lights and radio worked for us & our little friend was an adult.. now I don't know if they brought their family along to go decoration shopping from time to time but they were selective & did make a mess.. Since then we put everything in huge containers and have a new roof. I opened the back door one night and whoa, one was looking at me.. I said it might be cold but you aren't coming in this house.. LOL I'm glad you got you got their entrances covered, it's amazing what a small space those stinkers can get through... You and I can speak from experience!!!

Since there are more cute pics of cats, and in the interest of keeping the peace, I submit the following for the enjoyment of all the dog lovers...
Talk about not being able to resist an adorable face...I'd be begging forgiveness..."Ok, ok! You win the argument! I'm sorry!"
Cheers, big ears!
Can I come back in if I promise not to be argumentative?
You know I love you babe!

I don't believe anyone got banned over the deer eating popcorn pic. There was a poster here a few years back, who would post horrible insulting graphics and was banned several times.
And then we had people post really inappropriate images too. I think that people, and I used to do this too, when we used to not have a mod presence, would post funny pics to get the attention of a moderator on a "bad" thread - one where someone would post personal info or there was spam threads (we got those quite a bit too)

Over the summer I heard bumping around in my attic and came face-to-face with one of these critters (not the man). Aaaaarrrggghhh!
