Today's final launch of the Discovery space shuttle, brings to mind the horrible Challenger disaster. I saw it live on TV and can even now remember how shocking it was.

I also saw Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated live on TV when I was just a young girl. I saw the second plane hit the WTC, and the buildings collapse, again live on TV. The Waco tragedy unfolded before eyes, too.

Television is an amazing reality check sometimes. I cannot imagine how devastating it would be if I had personally known anyone involved in any of these events.
