Some of you know from other areas of this forum that DH and I moved back to the US a couple of months ago.
We moved back to an area we know and love including the vet clinic all of our cats have been to. In June we decided to do a long weekend in SF to visit with friends and my first choice was to get skinny black catbert a petsitter. The professional company I called did not return my call and the 'kid' recommended by friends was not available. So I decided to kennel her at our vets. A week before I went to go and check out the facilities. I was not as impressed as I have been with English kennels for cats but it was clean, well lit and had windows.
Today I went to pick up SBC. First issue, reception tells me that the kennel tech can't get my cat into her kennel. Could I go back and do it? My cat is front declawed and weighs about 7lbs and is 14 years old. I just don't get it. I went back there and set the carrier on a flat surface, pulled my hissing (she never hisses) freaked out cat out of her boarding kennel and stuff her into her bag. How hard was that?
When we got home I noticed that her hair just below her behind, upper thighs is encrusted with feces. Not like just one little hanger on as they sometimes get, more like she's been sitting in it for a couple of days. This tells me that this kennel never took a close look at her, shoved food through the gate and left her to it. Also the littler pans in these small enclosures are probably not big enough for her to sit in them properly. I rarely have a poo attached at home.
So I was furious. I called Willowcreek Pet Center, spoke to a manager, told her I want Rick Campbell DMV and owner of the facility to call me so we can have a word. She assured me he would and do you think he has? Oh no!! Too much for him to deal with a really displeased client. There is nothing I can do about this now.
But I do need help cleaning her up. I've tried using a tissue and just gently pulling at the fec matter but it is too hard now. I got a little bit out but there are still two clumps. Any ideas for removing them at home (she is so traumatized when she has to go out) would be so much appreciated.
I feel so horrible for having left her there in a plastic cage, no toys, no blankets in her own poo for 5 days. Oh yeah, on their website it states not to bring blankets because they will provide them because they don't want to be responsible for loss of things people will bring.
Anyway, never mind. Any ideas for cleaning her up?
TIA
