A friend of mine has been unemployed for well over a year and she's really busted her hump looking but nothing has turned up. To help make ends meet, she does some day-care for two bratty little girls and also does house cleaning and yard work.
I feel so sorry for her because despite the fact that she is making ends meet with odd jobs and unemployment, she's worried and so tired all the time.
She recently got wind of a job that's right up her ally so she worked on her resume using my equipment (she has just a notebook and no printer); we got it all prettied up, and then I wrote a letter of recommendation. I tried to make sure to use all the words a potential employer would want to hear, such as, dependable, energy, initiative, enthusiastic, fun to be around (she really is) and that she's been working for me and I'd trust her with anything, including my son when I had to go out of town unexpectedly.
I guess I said the right things because she had an interview yesterday and they HIRED HER ON THE SPOT!!!!!!
She's so relieved to have a job that has benefits and I'm so happy I could actually help her land the job she wanted. What a great feeling!
