I just read about being banned for a day for a word unapproved being posted.

I think it's long overdue that we are allowed to review a list of unapproved words. Why must we suffer the possibility of banishment for a crime we do not know we are commiting until it's too late?

I'm not just speaking of a 24-hour ban, but what about longer or permanent?

I would like to know what would constitute that decision ? They should not be able to reply that it is at their descrepancy , since we remain innocent of those things until found guilty. That makes no sense to me.

That's like a city or state being able to arrest and jail you when they never informed you of their laws to break in the first place. Ridiculous and unjust.

Oh, goodness, Ford. You're always welcome here, and we'd miss you if you went away. Don't take it too seriously. Most of us get into trouble on here occasionally, one way or another. Let it roll off, old girl!

But...we also have a lot of self appointed board police/monitors who go out of their way to report anything they THINK shouldn't be posted......those report happy posters are a large part of the problem around here.

So very true and often without a real reason, I started a thread apologizing for being snarky and it was poofed, and I am still clueless why that happened

I might be able to give you a clue about that... About a year ago I started a thread saying I felt that I had let myself down because I had allowed some posters to "push my buttons" and thought that I might have hurt someone's feelings or offended someone in some of my comments. No one in particular or any particular post or thread...just in general. And I was basically apologizing if I had done that...that's just not who I am. I had a lot of very kind comments in response to it, and I wanted to take time to reply back personally to some of them. But after about 55 responses, and not a snarky one in the bunch, suddenly the whole thread was gone. I was very upset about it (I know it's an anonymous board, but it meant a lot to me at the time), and I called Corporate.

I made no bones about how upset I was because there was nothing whatever in the thread that I or any reasonable person could consider against the "standards". They called me back and said that the board monitors thought that I might have "personally attacked" someone! It was apparently because I gave a general apology just in case I had hurt someone's feelings in any of my posts, and not knowing any specific post or any specific thread, they "assumed" I was referring to some personal attack I had made on another poster, and nothing of the sort ever happened, only in their minds and their overactive imaginations!

I made my opinion of that well known to the Corporate person who called me back, and told them I had a mind to never order another thing from QVC. Of course, I'm sure that really made a difference - LOL!

Anyway, I just thought I would relay my story to you, since it was similar and it wasn't because anyone had reported anything -- it was just how they chose to interpret my original post starting the thread. I've found that the old saying "nothing is sacred" applies here.

Yes I did, but all I asked was for them to let me know when I could post again. I wasn't about to argue with them. I received the email the next day that said it was okay for me to post again.

I'm trying GoodStuff. It isn't that I was "personally" insulted, it's just that they seem to jump on the wrong things. I have been "attacked" by certain posters so many times I can't count, and yet they continue to post freely on this BB. I have never attacked anyone and that's what their "boiler plate" admonition to me was about. Neither my post nor the two responses to it were anyone attacking anyone. They just didn't like the topic, which was really benign, only slightly mentioning one of the taboo topics and very, very short. Maybe someone realized it and that's why I was reinstated the next day.

As you said, it's really no big deal.

I've had it happen that when I went to post a "forbidden" word, my post won't go through. How is it fair that Ford's word showed up on a thread, and then she gets the ax? That's really, really unfair!

I just re-read some of the posts today and I want to thank all of you for saying you would come to my defense if I was obviously among the missing again. That's really sweet of you, and I appreciate it so much.

Ford, I think it's becoming crazy land in the world these days. So many people just sit around waiting to be offended by something. I completely understand your posts and don't worry about it. If you say cats are the best animal in the world, dog people get offended and visa-versa. Just post what you think and believe. Whatelse can we do? I don't want to live in fear of saying the wrong thing.. Say it loud and proud baby!!
