I'd rather shave a few years off of my life than to give up bacon.

I too would find it hard to give up.

My favorite uncle ate bacon and eggs every morning. He grew up on a farm. He did watch his weight. He outlived my aunt and was almost 90 when he died.  I still miss him. We never lived near them geographically, but he was married to my mom's identical twin and they had no children. No - they had my brother and me.  Smiley Happy

@cody2   If your doctor ran tests while you were taking a treadmill test than he/she is not blowing smoke and they know the condition of your heart.  Never hurts to have a 2nd opinion but Ct scans don't lie. Ultimately, your decision if you want to continue to eat foods on the don't list.

Is part of your doctor's plan for you is to lose weight?  If that's the case maybe if you need to do that you could have a few treats like bacon croissants etc sparingly after the weight loss.

For my weight if I add an extra 10lbs my blood pressure goes up. I try to maintain a healthy weight so a few treats every now and then don't impact my health.

I really, really do. Unfortunately, my cardiologist has given me orders to never eat another slice of the good stuff for the rest of my life. I mean, how can a life without bacon can be a good life? My question to you is can anybody here tell me if they have found a replacement for bacon that even resembles the taste of the real stuff? Can anybody tell me if that awful looking turkey bacon is edible? Or is that full of fat and sodium too? Hope springs eternal.

Is this another April Fools Day joke?

Are you serious?

Bacon is made with either beef, turkey, or pork.

Obviously, you've never tried the turkey bacon, which is about the same as beef and pork, flavor-wise.

Personally, I'll buy beef or turkey bacon.  I try to avoid pork whenever I can.

If you're really serious, start reading labels and go from there.

I suggest reading credible books on the subject of your disease, researching the topic in your own and deciding for yourself what you want to eat. I would never simply do something just because a doctor is telling me to do something. Most doctors are just flat wrong about their advice about diet. I do not consider bacon to be bad to eat and many intelligent folks agree with me. Questioning "authority" can be the healthiest thing you do.

I don't eat any red meat, fast food, fried food, cream sauces, or really any junk food.

I do have certain treats only occasionally. Pretty clean diet. Good labs and 20 lbs lighter

than when I was a chubby college kid.Feels good to be in shape. Better than eating a burger and fries! 😃

WOW .... either you have a fanatic physician, or you've had really bad eating habits for many years, and your blood test numbers were horrific.

Where do you buy this?

Honestly, with bacon, I could take it or leave it, but I'm always looking for variety in meal preparation.

I have to go back and review Morningstar Farms product line .... I liked their burgers and sausages.

personally, maube I agree with Doctor. He is probably trying to reduce  the salt, bad fats and such.  Why would my one want to go ahead and eat these foods and then take statins?  Knowing you have a choice to improve health, why not try?  Many  don't have a choice. But I would rather live my life at least free , or at lower risk of unnecessary meds and side effects, free of oxygen masks, and having stokes, or heart attacks and such. People sometimes are given a choice. Some have no choice.

also knowing Drs, they often try to give you a long list of foods not to eat , knowing most patients don't listen or do it half way .  Sometimes half way helps. Personally, I would take heed and follow advice for a month or two, see what results one gets. Maybe the craving for the fatty, salty , foods will lessen and you can feel better. Or not.  Never know til you try
