I really, really do. Unfortunately, my cardiologist has given me orders to never eat another slice of the good stuff for the rest of my life. I mean, how can a life without bacon can be a good life? My question to you is can anybody here tell me if they have found a replacement for bacon that even resembles the taste of the real stuff? Can anybody tell me if that awful looking turkey bacon is edible? Or is that full of fat and sodium too? Hope springs eternal.

Hmmm, NEVER, EVER? Not even in moderation?   I have never know of a substitute for bacon,

No bacon ever again?  That would not be possible for me.  I love bacon. I have tried the turkey bacon in the past and all I can say is...YUK!

I agree with @LuvmyLab  that turkey bacon is yucky.  I was told by my doctor too to avoid bacon. I just made up my mind not to have it, especially knowing it's not healthy.

I haven't looked back even after making my DH a big BLT that he wanted.

I'd find a different cardiologist if he's being that rigid.  Some bacon on occassion shouldn't be detrimental.

I doubt there's a suitable substitute.  I mean, what's the difference if you choose ham or prosciutto?  They're all similar.  The thought of fake vegan bacon is a big no.  đ꤮

I'm 70 and know I only have one shot at this life, no do-overs.  I do not deprive myself of what I like, and a doctors suggestion would not stop me from eating bacon.

My husband survived the widow maker MI in his mid 40's; had angioplasty with one stent, and never had any more heart issues.  He did not stop smoking nor give up bacon, sausage, red meat, etc.  He died last year in his 70's from metastasized cancer due to Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam.  His mindset was always "I will live my life until I die", and he did.

My son-in-law eats turkey bacon, and I think it's terrible. I share a pack of real bacon every Sunday morning before church with DH and my son. My portion is two slices. I bake it in the oven until crispy, and it's so good. I think I could go without it if I had to, but I also use it in lots of my best recipes, so that's a problem. Get a second opinion.

@RedTop...we have a few things in common. I lost my one and only sibling to Agent Orange. He was 62. At his funeral, when the young milatary man gave me my brothers flag, I told him that my brother deserved to be on the wall in DC because it was that war that killed and is still killing those who were sent to fight that war. And yes. We both love bacon.

And the other part is no more steaks, pizza wit pepperoni, baked goods or croissants. Nothing fried or salted. Pretty much anything that tastes good. Basically if it tastes good, spit it out because it is no good for you. Darn it. Hard not to feel sorry for myself.       Smiley LOL

@cody2 this is my opinion nothing else.  I wouldn't eat that stuff for anything. It's fat, it's cooked to almost burning, I cn go on lol. We don't eat it, and actually the smell into me almost makes me gag. I can smell the bacon grease when people cook it, and in their homes too lol. My kids eat it, grands love it. But. Not me. so many more things in life to enjoy

however, all that  bacon venom spewed, lol in a healthy diet a piece or two here and there shouldn't hurt. Maybe combined with currant health issues, and other dietary fats you have consumed Dr feels it's not for you.IFK, but good luck. I would hate to give up a few foods so I know how you feel

ETA.i never found a turkey bacon to feed grands, as I won't cook or have real stuff in house. BUT.. I found one oroduct...Wilshire products makes a turkey, precooked bacon that even my grands love. It smoky, crisp and bacon tasty. It's minus dyes, nitrates, additivesand  a bunch of stuff. I get it at whole foods
