I mean, blaming medications that treat psychiatric disorders for the acts of the person taking them.
Colorado theater shooter, James Holmes, had in his apartment, Zoloft and Clonazepam. These drugs TREAT psyciatric illness.
If he had gotten further treatment, he probably needed antipsychotic medication to treat the homicidal urges he had been having. I don't know for sure what his schedule to see a psychiatrist was or was not.
I think it was the school psychologist who warned that she felt he was dangerous. She was correct.
Mental illness isn't simple to treat. Patients have a lot of rights that sometimes work against society. Sure, you never know how any particular drug is going to work in an individual.
I really don't like to see a "blame the drug" for these type of situations.
Additionally, I would like to see them accept the guilty plea and life without parole instead of trial for the death penalty. He is truly mentally ill, and may not get the death penalty anyway. No trial will bring back the victims.
