What a wonderful thing for you and Hubs to do!![]()
I don't see it as "bragging" or "tooting your own horn" at all, I see it as maybe inspiring others to do such a kindness, that they may not have thought about!

I hope you go again & like Daisy said same time & same day & you might see him again. I bet the manager might know him if he is a regular customer. I think it was such a kind gesture & I know if I was in that position I would more than welcome the company. So many older seniors are forgotten.

I agree 100% what IG posted.

Don't judge the old man just because he has not seen his family in 20 years. People get busy with their own lives and don't give relatives in another state a second thought after awhile. Maybe they were not that close to begin with and they don't want to tie themselves up with an elderly relative. I have an elderly aunt who I call monthly and send birthday and holiday cards to, but I rarely visit and she only lives an hour away. Let's face it, getting old isn't for sissies.

@homedecor1 he is sort of the resident mascot at that restaurant. It's a rather expensive steakhouse .He is harmless ,but can be annoying all the same. One particular topic was the contents of his intestinal blockage....
He is Scottish and had a big blowup with his sister on Thanksgiving Day ,so they aren't speaking, and he has no other family here. He sort of adopts people. He never stays throughout the meal only long enough to put me off my food....it's good for my waist line...

then maybe you should tell him (or manager) you prefer not to hear his situation or get someone else to seat you so you can enjoy your meal. I clearly understand what you're saying TMI🙂

We have a guy that just sets at our table ,when ever he sees us. He really is a character ,and always manages to discuss some recent medical procedure he had, in vivid detail
He is a bit of a handful but , we know he is lonely, and we just listen and smile ,while my appetite takes a nose dive
Our life is very full, and I don't think his is, so we just count our blessings and carry on.

no judgment re: family didn't mean it to come across that way! Every persons story has a backstory -- I live in a predominately older community (area) & believe me I hear these stories everyday.
I just can't imagine not see my family that long but then again, there are times I don't want too😉. I am away from mine and it bothers me everyday...thank god for modern technology like Skype & FaceTime!
Have a good Sunday!

A lot of us elderly do not see our adult children much. They are to busy for us. It,s very important to volunteer, take classes, have a hobby, keep busy, don,t sit around feeling sorry. Have a good cry and get on with life, it,s short. Their loss, but more important, my great grandkids loss.
The phone works both ways. Call your grandkids and make a date to see them. Go to their school activities and sports. Take them out for coffee or lunch. My mom ignored her grandkids for decades (we all live very close by).
