There was a single winner in last night's Powerball drawing. The winning ticket was sold at Joe's Service Center in Altadena, about 15 miles outside of downtown Los Angeles. The one time lump sum payment would be $929 million.
I really don't know about the way they structure winnings for lottery winners, but it never made sense to me.
Instead of one person winning $100 million, wouldn't it be better for 100 people to win one million dollars?
If a 100 people had the right numbers, then they would split the pot. If one 1 had all the winning numbers the pot is all his. Not a difficult concept. That's how the game is played.
