@Still Raining  Thank you very much- I think you're so right, its a little bump on the road that right now feels like a big hill- but I will get over it and I will amount to great things as long as I continue to believe in myself Smiley Happy

@SportyShorty07 Sorry to hear that, you sound like an excellent candidate. I don't understand why they can't tell you why you didn't get into the academy. Are there any kind of restrictions or requirements that could prevent someone from being accepted? Age, height, weight, etc? Doesn't make sense for them not to disclose Woman Frustrated

@Estellee  Thank you so much Smiley Happy! I don't know why they can't tell me why I didn't get into the academy and why I can't appeal it.  I just feel bad about all of the reference letters people had to take time out of their days to write- I play bingo every month with a group of lovely seniors and each and every one of them believed in me so much that they hand wrote reference letters.  I'm grateful for the time that everyone took in advocating for me, I really am.  Maybe I'll never know the answers as to why I wasn't selected- and I'll have to make my own closure on this.  I just wish that I could know why.  It feels like a bad break up! Smiley Frustrated

@SportyShorty07 I want to add a little levity here knowing you are as much of a fan of the Bachelor/Bachelorette shows as I am. Can you imagine getting a job with the franchise and securing and guarding the mansion and travelling with the contestants everywhere. Sounds like a dream job!

@SportyShorty07  I am so sorry for your disappointment in not securing your dream job. I think you answered your own question why you didn't get the job..You stated: but my only worry is that I was born nearly deaf in my right ear. A police person has a very difficult if not impossible job in this environment. Police are retiring and quitting faster than they can recruit.

I think you have many talents that could help your community in other areas. Have you thought about working with the hearing impaired.  I would use my strengths to find causes that would help my community. You seem like a great person, don't give up. As they say, when one door closes another one opens. Good luck in your future endeavors.

Definitely look into Federal law enforcement ( FBI, CIA and Secret Service(there are a lot of female family members that need protection ). The age thing is only a guide line ( CIA offered me a job in my late 30s) and you get a real career position with great salary and benefits.

@patbz  Thank you for the great advice and congratulations on getting the CIA job offer in your 30's! I'm proud of you and that is inspiring Smiley Happy.

@Wsmom Excellent idea about selling popcorn at harvest festivals or even farmers markets Smiley Happy.  Maybe I could launch a popcorn line and sell it at county fairs? The opportunities can be great if I take some of my talents and put them into the world, one kernel at a time Smiley Wink

Wow! That is quite impressive. I can't imagine why you did not get hired. But as you said there is something out there better for you even if it doesn't seem like it right now. Good Luck in your future endeavors.

@Sage04  Thank you so very, very much for such kind words and I am so honored by the comparison to Crystal Fox's character Luann in "In the Heat of the Night"! She is such a beautiful and talented actress and played such a well rounded and inspiring character in the episodes I've seenSmiley Happy.  I'll see how I feel in these next two years and maybe reapply again in the future.  Life is all about overcoming adversity and finding happiness throughout it all, so I'm going to march on and walk tall!

I know you'll succeed. You seem to just have that drive and spirit.  If you make a line of popcorn be sure and see if you can pitch it on Shark Tank. They like it when they get to eat potential products LOL

@monicakm  Thank you! That's a great idea to pitch my popcorn on Shark Tank- have them snack on my delicious treats and give me the big bucks Smiley Very Happy

MY guess.....being under 5'

You could get very hurt taking down a 6' 4" bad guy.  if height is an issue..they should have spelled it out in the initial presentation.

@fthunt  They really should've spelled it out for me! The irony is, when I was a wrestler in high school, I was one of the only girls and I won matches against guys in practice who were anywhere from 5'8" to above 6' - I'm small and mighty Smiley Very Happy.  I told the investigator that I'm surprisingly strong for my height.

@SportyShorty07

How funny! Growing up I worked with my dad lifting sacks of seed, feed and bales of hay, wrestling calves, feeding animals etc.

I am not much taller than you and when we had wrestling in phys ed. a big old tall gal never once beat me.  Those little girls couldn't go up against a real cowgirl!  Woman LOL

We just might see her on QVC or HSN.

@Sage04  Oh that'd be a  dream come true! I love QVC, I watch it everyday.  Another thing is, I majored in product design and have an invention that I prototyped and I want to patent and sell- if I save up enough money and find a manufacturer. Someday I can sell it on QVC if that dream comes true! Either that or my popcorn on QVC Smiley Happy
