Snowpuppy ~ Oh........interesting.

What a mess. A death will bring to light what kind of people we have in our families.

hyacinth,
I'm so sorry you're going through this. Something like this seems to live with your being every minute of every day: it's hard to shake it. I sincerely hope for you and DH that this will soon come to an end.
******
When my Dad passed away 4 years ago, he did so intestate. As the executor of his estate, I had certain responsibilities - like paying his bills, etc. My sister would have none of it, stating that if she didn't get her money NOW, she would bring suit against me. After telling her in no uncertain terms what she was asking me to do, I asked if she would allow me the time requried to take care of his estate. Her answer was "No." I received a letter from her attorney which stated an intent to bring suit against me. Such ludicrous behavior! I so feel for you, hyacinth.
As far as I'm concerned, my sister doesn't exist. Because she and her SO have chosen to live the dependent lives they have, it didn't surprise me that she went after the bucks the day after Dad died. (Oh, yeh, she was a no-show for the funeral. Figures.)
Arrrrrgh!! Relatives!!!

The OP has been posting about getting her share of this estate for years. Probably won't be enough to get her a happy meal.
How nice of you to say!!
I am not even the beneficiary - my husband is. I am merely in awe of what so-called family will do to each other.
I have only commented on what has gone on. Always someone HAS to say something nasty about everything and anything.
I won't even get a ""happy meal."" My husband gets the inheritance. His brothers have taken it from lots of money to who-knows-what with all the legal fees they have incurred fighting each other.
My husband is the ONLY ONE who hasn't incurred legal fees fighting his brothers. That is with my support.

You have it right tansy. But, my husband has zero control over what the two Trustee brothers are doing.
He can only watch this from another state. He has had to learn that his own family don't care about him. That is what has taken us by surprise. Love all the posters who think they know other things about us.
Let them be given a gift and have your own family spend it away from you. I am sure they would be FINE with that!!
It's been 2 1/2 years. I don't think my husband has been impatient. We, together, made the decision NOT to get a lawyer to go after anything. We are the only ones.
But, some people just HAVE to be critical of others.

That was so unkind and not even true.

Now that is really unkind. She is going through a long process within her family that has turned really ugly and comes here for some support and to vent.
Many families are torn apart for the very same reasons as hers. It's a darn shame but it happens all the time. It's a sad situation. Money does that to some people but you are most surprised when it happens to your family.
I understand your frustration hyacinth. Hope it comes to an end soon and you and your husband can move on.

It is easy to say ignore the nay-sayers but hard to do. In any event try to overlook the ignorance of others.

What are they fighting about?
It must be a large estate. Small estates settle quickly.

I can too. When people feel hurt and wronged, there doesn't even need to be money involved...they just don't want someone to get away with their bad deeds; they don't want to be walked-upon. Since the sense of betrayal is worst when it is brought about by someone close to you, you're going to be hurt, angry and--even if a money-grabber started the feud--an honest person can wind up caught up in it.
