Simple reply to those who commented:  My Post Office doesn't have a 'hole in the wall" AND my postal clerks do NOT allow one to enter building and just toss the Q package on the counter.

Plus....I don't turn bags inside out b/c the outside of bag is dirty from transport - and - I want to return a product in the same good condition I received it.

@fthuntMy UPS bags are never really dirty like many have described on these boards.  Maybe it varies by geographical location, but it's just not what I usually experience.  And the clothing I return is already secure in a plastic bag, so I don't worry about it getting dirty from the outside part of the UPS bag.  Given the conditions you describe, it's probably better that you stick to shopping at B&M stores from now on.

I recently decided to try a pair of Ryka sneakers after years of seeing them on QVC.  I ordered a pair and spent maybe $5.00 on shipping.  They totally weren't what I expected and it cost me $7.00 to return them.  I can't afford any more $12.00 "trys" or mistakes.  I think I have to stick to local stores where I can return for free.  Any one else have the same concern?

I completely agree and I buy all my shoes online. I'm not willing to go from store to store looking for shoes.  However, I will also not pay $12.00 to try something on.  Therefore, if Zappo's doesn't have it, I won't be owning it.  Luckily, they seem to have everything I've needed for years.  Every once in a while, I'll order from a brand site that has free shipping and returns. And QVC doesn't have better prices!

Re: I can't afford to try an item on QVC and pay to return it anymore.

No, I'm the exact opposite.  A trip to the mall isn't free for me.  I have to pay for the gas, I have to take time off work or I have to take time away from something else that I want to do or need to do.  Also, stores are so limited in what they have.  Especially shoes, I wear a size ten and most shoe stores only have a few size 10's in a few styles.  So, wandering around from store to store hoping that to find what I am looking for is costly for me.  I much prefer buying online or from a shopping channel, I've been shopping this way for so many years that I know my sizes and I know what fits and I know what I like.  I don't return many things but when I do, I don't mind the cost.  However, there's no right or wrong.  If you prefer brick& mortar shopping, that's fine.  You certainly aren't alone in that.

@wagirl

  I have started to do the same thing on E-bay. Buying small sample sizes and trying them first. Josie had argon mask, 2 for $60. Before I would pay that, checked on E-bay, a sample for $10. Was worth it, because mask is ok not great.

@hannah64

I just purchased 6 pairs of Rykas on Zappos dot com - free shipping both ways. They charged full price, but if it goes on sale within a few weeks, they rebate the difference. After I purchased - a few weeks later, 2 pairs were reduced by $5. each. I emailed them and they credited me. I read all the reviews - and 2 different styles were rated very high - so I purchased both styles and they are perfect. If it doesn't fit u - or u don't like it - just return. BEST customer svce.

If you are hard to fit ,it might pay you to shop at B&M stores. I am easy to fit ,but only find a very limited selection in my size. I am always the same size shoe, I never size up or down ,and it works for me

WE all aren't the same. I would advise people to do what works for them. I am perfectly happy paying the small amount of postage to get an item. My time, and  having to tramp all over to find something is important to me. Internet shopping is very easy for me

Re: I can't afford to try an item on QVC and pay to return it anymore.

i always turn my bags inside out if i have to return an item. even if the bag is somewhat dirty, the item is in its own bag and will be repackaged when it gets back to qvc. if i am concerned about dirt, then i would just put the bagged item into a grocery store plastic bag for extra protection.

i never just leave my prepaid packages on the counter at the post office. i make sure to go in and get a receipt for my return.

i dont return a lot, but when i order items, i do take into account that it COULD cost me as much as $10 more and determine whether or not it is worth it for me,. in general, it usually is. if it was an inexpensive item and i would not get too much money back, i would pass it along to one of my daughters or my mother.

@hannah64  do not buy shoes at the Q unless you can afford to send them back if they are not your cup of tea. I literally spend hundreds of dollars a year on returning product to the Q, but I can afford it and to me it's worth it. I hate to shop brick and mortar, they give you the stink eye when you return something.

Hi, @hannah64!  Welcome to the forum!  I think there are still bargains to be had on the Q.  An example I’ll mention is a Dansko sandal I recently bought on clearance for 40-50% off.  Before I bought though I went to shoes dot com and looked up the shoe of interest.  The review there told me to size up which I did when I ordered the color I wanted (only at Q at the clearance price) and I got a perfect fit.  I always check Click Here Measurements on clothing and assess how it looks on models or in the videos before I order.  Just too expensive to return.

Re: I can't afford to try an item on QVC and pay to return it anymore.

I wont buy shoes anymore.  I dont return a lot, except shoes. I have had the worst luck with sizing in shoes on Qvc the last 3 years.  I can buy the same brand, style at nordie or macys, and they fit.  Any shoe sold at QVC,  that is made in the thousands, is just made different.  Imo.  Wider, larger.  Never smaller.  The return fee of sometimes up to 10 bucks is a stop sign for me.  There was one time I wanted the shoes badly.  Cost me 40 bucks to deliver and return 2 times.  9m was way to large and wide, 8.5 ran small.
