I would not be surprised if he was. I have no proof that he was, or wasn't, but I would not be surprised if he was.
I hope you will take Emma's advice and not sign off on insurance or something. Whiplash can take a while to show up.
It's been three days since the accident, and except for immediately following the accident, I haven't had any soreness, aches, or pains.
Plus, there are some financials that I want to submit, such as my out-of-pocket money for my e.r. visit, that my insurance doesn't cover, my meds, and my body shop estimate.
My insurance agent did tell me that the other insurance agents will call to get my side of the story, and that it would be in my best interest to talk to them, which I will.
That is really good to hear. I am glad that you didn't suffer whiplash! Sounds like your insurance agent is a good one.

That's usually what will happen. Your insurance will then go after the driver who caused the accident for damages to you and your car and the money they paid out to the driver you bumped. Just want to put that out there so you're not surprised if it happens.
I don't expect this to be settled any time soon, and my insurance agent did warn me that the car that I hit, could possibly go after me.
Good. Glad you're armed with complete info. I've had some friends freak out when they are informed driver #1 in a three car crash is suing their insurance company for damages. It all works out in the wash, eventually.
True, and I figure that's what insurance agents are for, they do all the paperwork, and talking between parties.
Heck, I don't expect this case to be closed until end of the year at the earliest.
Exactly. Your agent gets a cut of your premium. You're paying the agent to represent you. I think you're absolutely right in turning all of it over to him. You shouldn't need to deal with any of the negotiation, except to cooperate.
Insurance agents sell you the policy. They seldom if ever do your negotiating for you because of an accident. Representing someone for a claim is not an insurance agent's job. In fact, it is considered somewhat of an ethical violation because it could be construed as practicing law without a license.
Your agent can help you get the process started, but he/she can't handle the whole thing for you.
You're right. I was just using the word "agent" kind of as a "catch-all" phrase.
And I used the word "represent" as a catch-all for what you get from the company for the premiums you pay.

Yuban I'm really happy that you're okay. It could have been so much worse.
When I read your original post, my first thought was TEXTING. He could have been but I guess if he was, he's not telling.
Your insurance company will take care of you. Your agent can give you advice, but there is nothing he/she can do as far as the claim itself. That will be determined by the claims adjuster, who will examine all the cars and make the decision as to who was at fault and what percentage each of you were responsible.
Good luck with all that, but please take care of yourself.
Sunny

Gotcha.
Your insurance company will have a claim representative handling this for you.
BTW. It is possible the car ahead will try to come to you for damages. That often happens in 3 car rear end accidents. The claims representatives will ask the magic question for these situations: "how many impacts did you feel?". If he says one, that is good evidence you were pushed into him. If he says two impacts, that could be trouble. Either way, your insurance company will investigate.

Fortunately, I have no experience with this type of collision. Is financial responsibility for damages/injuries assigned according to who is charged(ticketed) by the police?

I'm glad you're OK, Yuban!

That's exactly what my representative told me.

Omg, almost the exact same thing happened to me in 1995. I just didn't hit the car in front of me. The boy was 21 & it was his girlfriends car, but no proof of registration or insurance in the car. He was looking downward & didn't notice traffic was stopped at a red light. He looked up & plowed right into me. I had just had an abdominal hysterectomy 3 weeks prior so was pretty sore. That was Memorial weekend & in December he was killed drag racing on a city street. Hope you heal fast.

This happened to me several years ago.
I was stopped at a four way stop, and also second in line.
All of a sudden, a pick up hit me from behind. Fortunately, for the driver ahead of me, I did not hit her because she had already gone on. But if I had been a little further up, I would have been pushed into the intersection.
Also a guy in his early twenties. He said his foot slipped off the brake.
His insurance paid. I think he was not happy..he told me this was his third claim, and he was afraid of what would happen to his rates.
ETA: Yes, Yuban, glad you're ok! A similar thing happened in my town and the driver who was impacted was seriously injured..almost didn't make it...the force pushed her into oncoming traffic. Driver who hit her was someone texting...
