Wait! Let me guess. When you were young some of you walked 5 miles each way to school. In 3 feet of snow. In a blizzard. Against the wind. Both ways. Wearing only a light jacket. Carrying 20 pounds of school books.

Did I miss anything?

In Buffalo's Blizzard of '77, almost two dozen people died. They were stranded in their cars or on the street and froze to death. Volunteers found their bodies after they dug down and discovered there were cars under all the snow!

This time, luckily NO ONE died. People were prepared.

Radar is much improved.

I am glad we are more cautious.

11 people died in Buffalo in the blizzard of 77. There were 23 in all of western NY (Buffalo's 11 included in that). There was over 3 feet of snow and this most recent storm in Buffalo dropped half that. Can't compare the two.

Yes...they wore bread wrappers on their feet inside their boots to keep their feet dry!

OMG. It sounds so barbaric now, but yes, we did wear bread wrappers on our feet under our boots. We wore those little red rubber boots out in the snow. Absolutely nothing in those things to keep your feet warm.

I remember my Wonder Bread wrappers very fondly.

My dad was the manager of our local Wonder Bread bakery...MY wrappers were fresh - right from the plant with no crumbs inside!
