I Lost a Fence In The Wind Storm

Some may make fun of me for "complaining" about winds, cold, and rain.

Where I live in Northwestern California, we just had one hellva storm come through, where wind gusts were over 50 miles per hour.

And yes, tonight it's supposed to get down to around 30 degress, which is unusual for this time of year.

Does it get much colder in other parts of the country? Of course it does. There are places that regularly have sub-zero temperatures, but that's why I don't live there.

And an inch of rain in burn areas can cause a lot of damage.

I guess some have never heard of mud slides, or seen the damage that they can do.

But, be all that as it may, last night during one particular stron gust of wind, I heard a loud BOOM!

Today, I went out to survey my yard, and discovered this.

The wind had knocked down my fence.

No wonder my dad hated strong winds.

He was from Kansas City, Mo and knew the damage that strong winds could do.

I put in a work order with the landlord, but with it being the holiday weekend, it probably won't be replaced until next week at the earliest.

@Anonymous032819   I'm in SE Michigan and nothing gets me walking the floors like wind.  We are under a wind advisory today until 9 pm with wind gusts up to 50 MPH.

I can take rain, I can take snow.  Wild wind - not so much.

There are times when you must speak, not because you are going to change the opposing side, but because if you do not speak, they have changed you.

Re: I Lost a Fence In The Wind Storm

I am sorry about your fencing.

Right now in SW PA it is beautiful for November.  63 degrees with a sunny blue sky and windy.  Very unusal for us, we seem never to have breezy or windy weather in spring or summer or on a sunny day.  I like the wind.

But not where I at my home.  There are too many big trees behind our house.  If there are high winds after dark I am in the basement, sometimes I will even sleep down there or in the garage in my car. I know one day one of those trees is going to come down on the house.

That is why we are having a hickory tree professionally uprooted and hauled away next spring.

Re: I Lost a Fence In The Wind Storm

So sorry, @Anonymous032819 . Hopefully, the weather will calm down for you now. I'm in N.E. Pa. and the wind is picking up. I hate th wind too, as I have a large maple in my front yard.I'm hoping the wind (gusts 45 to 50 mph) starting tonight will at least get rid of the remaining leaves on it, as we are to have rain, snow and ice starting Sat. night. Not a lot, but a heavy wet, snow can brings trees down. If I were you, I'd have 2 of those cinnamon rolls for breakfast tomorrow. Take care of yourself.

@Allegheny ..... We were 62 degrees yesterday. This morning about 7:00 the winds came in. Had a little rain, not much. Under a wind advisory until 9:00 p.m.The winds have only gotten up to 35/40 miles an hour but sound horrible. I agree with a few others .... the wind really bothers me. Hopefully they die down soon!
