@chrystaltreewrote:The IRS computer did it's job and you are getting the refund you were entitled to. Good for you but that's what IRS is supposed to do. As for single people and deductions; there are tons of deductions that single people are entitled too. Single people own homes and property and have investment income and children and everything else that everyone else has. You don't have deductions other than the standard deduction due to your lower income and lack of resources....not because you aren't married. No, there are no "people" sitting at desks processing the the 100 million or more tax returns...lol Even the returns that are done on paper and sent in by snail mail are scanned or keyed into the computers for processing.
@chrystaltree I've never been so happy to be poor without resources in all of my life!

Wow, single people never get tax breaks?!
My tax accountant must be all wrong!
If you own nothing, maybe you can start with your refund money.

@Snowpuppy It's going into savings most of it. Maybe some day!

@Laura14wrote:@Carol08 I know! I'm enjoying my happiness before it turns to tears as the bill paying begins. I've already put a box of tissues on the shopping list.
Maybe you will be able to claim the box of tissues on next year's tax forms......and get reimbursed for them....It sounds like you got the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow before St. Patrick's Day!!
LOL @Carol08 ! They knew it's been a rough start to 2018. Between a car accident and my mom going into surgery next week, I needed to be Irish for a day. Hopefully, the luck rubs off. Touch my post quick! LOL
I just touched your post! It's funny, but when I first read your title, "I love the IRS", for a split second I read it as "I love the Irish"....

Hang onto it because whenever we get a refund they come back and get it in a tax audit. LOL Ok, if they make a mistake, but, you best comply with them in a week or 2.
Lord giveth and Lord taketh away is our motto. Usually after you spend it on something new only to be told you owe us on something that slipped by, but, now is caught. LOL
Wish hubbo would pay somebody to do ours, but, he won't do it and half the time thinks he doesn't have to pay taxes on something till he fully retires
Nope, they say you pay taxes on it AGAIN and NOW ! LOL

Our refund took a bit longer this year - DH blames government shut downs. We too use the EZ form as we don't pay taxes because our income is too low after our personal deductions are applied.

Well I would not spend it if you don't have it coming to you.
I would double check your return. Take the deposit & then deal with sending them their money back so you don't have to wait even longer to get your refund.
There is some type of scam I heard them say something about on the news. It was getting a refund you don't expect & spend it to only have to pay it back.
They amended ours once & wanted a check for balance due. They lost my W-2 so sent it to them so they would send our refund. No way they lost my W-2 as both W-2's were attached with a paper clip. Someone was just being an $&*%$#.
