Re: I LOVE THE HEARTS BUT...

I like the hearts and give them if I like a post, to acknowledge that I've read a post and even as a cyberhug

I don't know if the hearts has changed the amount of "chit chat" between posters but I do think it has helped build a sense of camaraderie.

I like the hearts too, I was never a person who responded to every single post that I liked or agreed with.  Who has the time or energy for that?  But with the hearts, I can give a "thumbs up" or "great post" without actually answering the post.  And I thinking the hearts reduces some of those long, long, long responses where people copy (why????) the entire 53 previous responses.

@Chrystaltree2, this made me LOL.  Some posters still do that and it makes me crazy!!!  "Why???" is right!!

Personally, I haven't ever noticed the hearts.

Re: I LOVE THE HEARTS BUT...

I like the hearts.  Before if I read a post and a lot of other posters already made positive comments I wouldn't add mine just because so many others already had responded saying the same thing I was going to say.  Now, I just click the heart and it lets the poster know I agree.

I agree.  I think the hearts have created a stronger sense of community.  There used to be posts about members feeling invisible which I no longer see.  I think the hearts let people know that their thoughts matter; they’re acknowledged and appreciated.  I also feel like I’ve gotten to know people better since the hearts.  I always look to see who hearts my post and it helps me get to know other posters.

@Lindsays Grandma, I like the hearts for a number of reasons, but especially for the reason @cotton4me mentioned about people feeling invisible before.

In the primary forum I participate in, I know most of the members. I try to always heart new folks who come in just to let them know that they are welcome to come on in and join the fun. And I always try to give a short "welcome" post to them.

I really like the hearts.  Prior to 'hearting', there were times that I wondered if my post was read if I didn't get a responding post.  I've never been a popular person anywhere in life (that's ok, no biggy, lol) therefore, why I get that feeling.

It makes the board feel less like a clique when only certain people get post responses.  Now a poster can just heart instead.  Everybody likes to be acknowledged.

Re: I LOVE THE HEARTS BUT...

Hearts eliminated half of the responses in a thread that said I agree.  I think it brought posters closer together.

It's nice to quickly acknowledge a post you agree with, find interesting, or to use it as a way to say "Hi".

It is always nice to be acknowledged. In the past, I  felt there were cliques and so much infighting. Now I see hearts and even though my post may not be copied and repasted, at least someone read it.

@Mmsfoxxie -I know exactly what you mean.  On the old boards it was the same group posting to their "friends" posts.  When I posted a comment it was completely ignored.  It is so much better now.
