My students don't know how to use the school phone and when I ask them if the number is long distance (then they have to dial a 1 in addition to the 9 to get the outside line) they have no idea if the number is a local number.

Several years ago my Grandson's school was checking to see if all the kids knew their full name, address and phone number. When the teacher asked him his home phone number he said 3...it was the speed dial on my DD's cell phone...lol

When I fondly reminisce about being able to buy sheets that had flowers or other colorful designs all over them-- and these were not sheets for kids!

DOES ANYONE ELSE REMEMBER BIG FLOWERED SHEETS?

I don't ever consider myself of having a generation gap with anyone. It is just as easy for me to converse with a teenager as to converse with an 80 year old.

I can think of 2 -

I knew I was of a different generation when - I'd watch the Grammies and not know any of the singers, groups, or songs.

I knew I was of a different generation when - I needed a new remote control for my DISH network and after about a half hour still hadn't programmed it to my TV and my 22 year old nephew took it from me, read the instructions and did it within 3 or 4 minutes.

When the same body measurements as in the 1970's size 10 became today's size 6! (I found this out when my daughter tried on an old suit of mine and by reading the size she thought it would be too big on her. When she tried it on it was TOO SMALL! HA!)

That's certainly true. For years and years I wore a size 8, occasionally a size 10. Now I wear a size 6 (sometimes even a 4). Did I lose weight? No, if anything I put on a few pounds over the years. Did my body shape shift? Well, only if you want to mention middle-age spread and a little change in gravity. But there we are.

When I asked my 30 something boss if he had a black "felt pen" and he said, "Felt pen? You mean a SHARPIE?"!

And if you said "A Flair" (pen) -- probably a puzzled look would greet you!

When I ask the young woman at JC Penneys"" where could I find the men's billfolds? She looked at me and said ""What""? Then asking another young woman that didn't know what I was talking about.

Or remembering when my Mother carried a pocketbook.

I walked into a JcPenney's and asked about the "Catalog Department". The new cashier said it'd been closed at that location a few years ago but inquired about it. I explained that I used it for customer service but it's main use was for the JcPenney catalog magazine which was huge ordeal in the day. She responded, "I never realized they had a real catalog." {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

Yeah -- a big thing until about 10 years ago -- now the old "Catalog" is online shopping. Just think of all the room JCP stores have now that used to be taken up by storing what customers ordered and (they had the merchandise waiting until the customers picked it up).
