I find it interesting that everytime someone.....like movie stars, etc. passes, that you can bet there will be a thread on here.

Why is this??????    We all get the news one way or another, on our face page, TV, or where ever.  You would think we know these folks personally the way they just happen to appear right after some new network has announced it or printed it someplace.

Just curious......I know I have done it once or twice myself thinking that some folks don't watch the news or have a face page on their computer.

Re: I Have a Question.......

@ShowMe, this is the first place I typically hear of these things, celebrity deaths. Then I go looking for the full info. I don't really do Facebook, and like this afternoon, I have been glued to the golf match play. So, I hear it here first!

Re: I Have a Question.......

A lot of us are baby boomers....or it does seem that way, so when someone passes we tend to have watched them or heard of them. It's kind of soothing to be together and offer our condolences.

I don't mind it as I don't always put on the news....

Really: I Have a Question.......

[ Edited ]

@ShowMe, I know what you mean and find it kind of bothersome but that's just me.  I'd lIke to see the Q have a forum for such topics.

Oh I guess my email to you went into outer space when your poor computer was sick but I did answer you back.

Re: I Have a Question.......

As a fan of some of the people that passed, it's nice to share memories about the person.

i remember when Paul /walker died, I posted here because there were conflicting reports about his death. I think that a hoax magazine reported Walker died a few weeks before so some places said he wasn't dead.

I have great memories of George Kennedy and a few weeks ago, it was nice to chat with people who saw the same movies and roles and reminded me of a few roles I forgot about.

You want a separate forum to announce when people have died????  Not sure why those threads are bothersome, just scroll on by.

Re: I Have a Question.......

I think it's just conversation.  Like if you are on the way home on the train and you chat with someone.  So and so died.  You know thst person already knows.  The thing that I find weird is when  posters say my deepest sympathies and the like.  Who are they saying it to?  The family of the deceased famous person isn't on this board.  No one here knows that person.

Re: I Have a Question.......

@ShowMe  We have posters who are apparently glued to TMZ all day and consider it a major coup if they can be the first to report some show biz news, usually a death.

I'm really not interested and don't even open these threads.  You have to be a very shallow, superficial person to be so enthralled with this type of news.  I couldn't care less.  There are many, many more interesting people who die and we don't hear a word about it.

@Suziepeach, no, I received it, and flagged it.  Have several others I need to respond to.  But the print on my e-mail is rather small and when my vision is blurred, as it is today, I find it hard to type.  Between the vision and tingling in my hands, sometimes typing drives me crazy.

I'm loving the answers we are getting on here.  I was curious, and even said I have done it once or twice.  I don't have facebook, and never will.....  The first thing I see on my computer once I've signed in is the MSN face page provided by Charter, my internet provider.
