Yesterday was my birthday, and as tradition for me, I spent part of it at a local day spa.
When I arrived for my 9:30 appointment, I was a few minutes early, and my hair dresser was finishing up with another client, so I picked up a hard-cover hair styling book, and started to flip through the pages. I came across this one hair style that I thought was cute, and I decided to ask my hairstylist if that cut would look good on me. I know that not all hairstyles will look good on everyone, because you have to take the shape of the face in to account, but that's all I know about hair styling.
When I was called over, my stylist asked me what I wanted to do with my hair today. I told him that I wanted it cut short. Up until now, my hair had been to just above my bra strap. He knew that I've always had a love for long hair, but recently, I've been wanting a change. He asked me why I wanted a short hair cut, and I told him, "Because I'm tired of long hair.", and he said, "Well, that's honest!" I showed him the picture in the book that I liked, and asked if I could get something like that, unless he thought it wouldn't look good on me. He said that the cut/style that I picked would look good. What I got was an "A - line" cut.
He told me that he was going to rough cut my hair first, before coloring, because why color hair that's only going to end up on the floor? Makes sense to me. Just before he made the first cut, he asked me, "Are you sure? Are you sure you want short hair?" I laughed and said, "Yes! Cut!"
When he was finished with the rough cut, I turned around in the chair and saw all the hair on the floor, and said, "Wow!" The stylist said that it was enough to make a small wig! *lol*
We chatted, and when he was finished coloring and trimming my hair, and I saw the final results, I told him that I loved it, and I do. I think secretly, he was thrilled that I was (finally) giving up my long hair, because I have a round face, and (so I've been told) long hair doesn't always look good on round faces. But, being fourty-mumble, I was ready for a change.
My dad and I went out to diner at a local steakhouse, where he had a pulled pork sandwich, and I had a 24 ounce porterhouse steak. He had coffee, while I had two glasses of red wine, and a cocktail. Our dinners came with a choice of sides, and we chose salad, and a fully loaded baked potato. For an appetizer, I ordered deep fried asparagus. First time that I've ever had that. It was okay, not bad, but I think I'll stick with my asparagus steamed. Then for dessert, we each had a slice of cheesecake. The total came to $103! My dad said that he has never spent so much on a meal. I said to him, "What can I say? I'm not a cheap date!"*lol*
At the steakhouse, they have a Tesla coil, and they fired it up for about 30 seconds. Boy, is that thing loud!
All in all, I had a fun b-day, and I think my co-workers will love my new hair style. I know that I do!
